At my torture session this afternoon the physiotherapist asked me if it had ever been mentioned to me that I'm flat footed. In nearly 59 years it hadn't until today! She thinks that it might be putting extra strain on my knees so is referring me to the podiatrists to see what they think. She's also given me a whole new set of exercises to get to grips with. The only thing I can say is that I'm cetainly getting my money's worth from the NHS! Linda x

Coppernob, so glad that your therapist noticed your feet! What a wonderful, caring health professional she must be. I've known of people who have really benefited from properly fitted orthotics to put their bodies back into alignment.

Yes - and it makes a pleasant change, that's for sure!

I have used orthotics for about 30 years as I have a problem with pronation which was not helping the knee problems (originally problem was malalignment). I can still remember what the podiatrist said the first time i met him, You walk like a drunken sailor on rough seas.

When he brought the knee to a neutral problem is was too painful so he backed it off a bit and that did help.

Even with the new knees I still need my orthotics and have to by new shoes at least every 6 months (it should be 4 months but that gets too expensive).

I use custom made orthotics

Simon
