Just to let you all know, Jamie has been taken on as a permament member of staff. I'm sure you'll all agree she did a fantastic job whilst I was away and I knew for sure that the forum was in good hands.

But now we are engaged in a project to give the BoneSmart website and forum a much higher presence on the internet as a result of which we are expecting to increase our membership considerably. Therefore we anticipate that things will be much busier from a moderating POV so it was decided to increase our staff by 100%!

So please welcome Jamie.
I shall enjoy working with her and I know she will be a great asset to the forum as she already has demonstrated her ability in this way.

Spam and reports
Sadly the project might also bring with it an increase in spammers. If you see any posts advertising stuff or with links to dodgy or commercial sites, then please use the report button in the top right hand corner of the post. This will generate a report that is sent to Jamie and me so we know what and where the post is.

Re: Announcement

YAY!!!!!!!! Congratulations Jamie..........you deserve the "permanent promotion"! You did indeed do a wonderful job while Jo was away! :)
And congratulations Jo on Bonesmart getting a much higher internet profile and increased membership - that is in no small part due to your professionalism and constant support for we - the members! This is wonderful news! :)

Speaking from a "member" point of view - it is a privilege to be a part of this forum, and an honour to have met such an incredible group of people!

[Bonesmart.org] Announcement - new Admin on staff

Since Jo was so kind to post this announcement, I'll take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE here for helping me get through the time when she was away. I always knew I could count on the BoneSmart extended family to provide excellent responses to the newer members. And....to provide a little humor along the way to put an unexpected smile on someone's face when they came online. Believe me, Jo, it took a WHOLE GROUP of us to keep things going while you were getting that new knee.

I am honored to have this new role on a permanent basis. It is a blessing for me because I was looking for something to do in retirement where I could learn new things, be involved with people, and NOT have to go into an office or maintain a regular schedule. This is perfect!! I look forward to helping BoneSmart reach a new level so that we can help even more people who have joint replacement surgery in their future or who have had an operation. It appears there is still quite a need out there for information and support.

The support issue is where all my friends here come in....you guys provide the BEST support for almost ANY questions or concern because you've BEEN THERE. So, if it fits into your life (your NEW life after surgery, that is) and you can remain an active forum member, please do!!! I have grown so fond of you and don't want to lose touch with anyone.

Thanks again for all the warm wishes. And Jo, thank you for everything you have done. I look forward to learning new forum magic tricks from you and to working with the BoneSmart staff.

Re: Announcement

Wow, Jamie, congrats!! You definitely are the one for the job, you did so great while Jo was gone! I have watched this forum grow literally by hundreds just since I joined in January, and have oftened wondered how you and Jo can even keep up with all the posts! You go, Girl!! You're really going to be busy in retirement now!

Re: Announcement

Congratulations Jamie!!!!

You have done a great job, I am so happy for you. I am glad bonesmart is growing . I don't know what I would have done without it. It was about this time last year that I made the hip replacement commitment and found this site that day. It saved my sanity for sure. Also saved my doc's office from lots of phone calls.
A new adventure begins

A new adventure for sure. You're right, Judy!! It will be interesting to see what the next year brings for us all.

Re: Announcement

Jamieeeee!!!

I'm cue-ing up some really tough questions fo you, so be ready!!!!!
Why are people born with skeletal abnormalities?
What is the average life of a dysplasic hip?
(Just kidding......I think I made up the word dysplasic, LOL)
Very cool that you will be co-sys-op! I always look forward to reading your posts.

Whew, HOP!!! You really had me going there for a bit!!! Nothing like Trial By Fire in a new job, huh!!! ACK!!!! I would have been on Google all night!

Thanks again to everyone!!! This is a happy day on the Kansas prairie!!!

Re: Announcement

Hmmmm......I just noticed the change from "Moderator" to "Super Moderator." Now I AM a little nervous!!! I have no idea what a Super Moderator must do, but I'm thinking it may involve
a phone booth, a cape, and leaping tall hospital gurneys in a single bound. Uh-oh.....

Re: Announcement

The forum saved me too back a year ago when I was trying to recover and thinking I must be the ONLY one in the world going through the pain and night stalking sleepless nights.

Re: Announcement

And NO ONE deserves it more. SUPER mod! :)

Re: Announcement

WOW Jamie - congrats!!

You were wonderful while Jo was 'becoming one of us' and I too think it's great that you will both be there for us.

I am in the "I don't know what I would have done without this BoneSmart family". You all brought me through some unexpected trials and tribulations and have great respect for those of you that take the time to help us newbies even after your lives are back to normal.

I check this site every day, at least once, and love to read about the different experiences that each of you has had. I love Doug's "kneedling" of Jo (pun intended) and firmly believe if you have God, love and laughter you can get through anything!

At BoneSmart we very lucky - we have God, love, laughter, Josephine and Jamie!

Diane
