Hi Everyone, I have a new PT move I have been working on in order to be ready at 3 months to shave and clip toenails. It is getting my ankle from my operated leg(R) to my left knee. I am working this with my PT person. At first it felt really tight but tonight it actually came a little easier. Of course I am still lying down and my left leg is flat. But it's a start to retrain the muscles. Is there anyone else who is working on this or who has accomplished it? If so, how long did it take you? Has anyone heard of that being a restriction? MY OS says its okay to try gently; no complete lotus moves.
Thanks Tapestry

Hi,

I'm not doing this, but it sounds like I need this. I'm at 3 months post-op and I still can't put my socks and shoes on. My Doc. said I just need to practice sitting with my leg (ankle)(operated side) to the opposite knee. Is that what you are doing to stretch and increase range of motion?

I'll take any info you have to share.

Hi Ginny, that is what I will be working towards. I am only 9 weeks out so I haven't been cleared yet for more as far as that goes. My Pt person said that by doing the lying down position I am stretching and strengthening the muscles I will need without compromising my precautions. Until I am at 3 months I suppose that will have to do. I am quickly growing tired of not being able to put on socks with out my gadget and wearing only slip on shoes; not to mention its almost summer and groomed feet and lower legs would be nice. :)
I have a ceramic/ceramic with posterior approach. I look forward to hearing your progress.

Tapestry,
I'm going to give it a try. I'm actually getting better, but it is still a difficult. i started yoga and stretching on my own everyday, and we'll see how things go.

My recommend for your toes: Treat yourself to a pedicure! You deserve it after all this. :)

Keep in touch.
Ginny
