JABIII,
I had my second tkr last week on the 9th. I was doing so well after getting home that I was walking around the kitchen unassisted and using only one crutch at other times. Over the weekend, I started having trouble with the calf of my leg and I couldn't even put my foot flat on the floor. It felt like someone had shrunk my calf muscle and it still does, actually. I was worried about a blood clot because of the drastic change and went to the ER yesterday. They did a doppler ultrasound and everything was fine. No clots. The technician said there is a lot of extra blood in the leg that is causing the pain and until it dissipates, I was going to have pain from it. This has definitely slowed me down. No matter how hard I stretch, it just wont budge. I'm back to two crutches full time.
Do you have a home health nurse visiting that you could talk to about the ankle pain? If not, I would suggest calling the surgeons office for guidance. You sure don't want to chance anything that might be a clot but I would really think that might not be your issue since the pain is on both sides. Good luck with it and let us know how you do. Karen
