@Rubyroo awww thank you! Everything went great!!! So far so good..I can’t believe how scared I was...And everything was so much better then I expected...Spinal didn’t hurt at all! Just 1 little poke,And I don’t remember anything after that! Woke up in recovery feeling great..Just a little tired...I was super numb from waist down until this morning (3:30 am) So they just started me on CPM machine.Going to try and go back to sleep for now.

I’m glad things are going well!

I will leave you our Recovery Guidelines. Each article is short but very informative. Following these guidelines will help you have a less painful recovery.

Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
rest
ice
take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)

3. Do what you want to do BUT
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.

4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these

5. At week 4 and after you should follow this

6. Access to these pages on the website

The Recovery articles:

Elevation is the key

Much luck to you....its a tough recovery....but it was my first too. Week 3. Slow improvement, but steady on.

Denise, it was actually sistersinhim that set up your recovery thread for you, and she came up with the title that you like better.

We can change it for you any time you want, just ask. Sometimes a change in title is good to reflect different aspects of your recovery journey.

@valgriff2 thank you...I’m terrified once all my blockers wear off! I’m great at the moment...I’ll look forward to week 3....

Awesome! Hope all continues to go well for you. How soon do you go home?

Glad it went well for you! Just ride the wave and you’ll be up and back to normal in know time! I’m having my third one tomorrow.. yes third! lol. I’m an old pro!

@steverup omg!3rd one???You DEFINITELY are an expert!!!!Best of luck on your surgery tomorrow ☺️I’m doing great so far....I pray it continues...

I'm so glad it went well and better than expected.

Hi @Deniseb Glad to hear that the surgery portion was no big deal!! I felt the same way, this is easy... I started pushing my ROM while the nerve blocks were still in effect. BAD MOVE! In my case the nerve blocks and additional local pain blocks did not wear off till day 2 or 3. I had already overdone it. It was not fun. I can excel at stupid, so more than likely you will be just fine...
Good Luck with your recovery!!
Rick

Congratulations and welcome to the Bonesmarties club enjoy the 1st few days of total pain relief just make sure that when you leave hospital that you are given sufficient and strong pain killers as once spinal block wears off it can be a tad painful but I can promise you it does get better xx

@Rick951 I was guilty of the same thing. Felt pretty confident discharged on day two and was amazed on days three and four with physical therapy how good I felt, well that was the end of the nerve block in the thigh and reality struck. @Denise I’m glad you’re feeling so well just be careful about pushing it your first few days at home. Remember as mentioned above to ice and elevate, medicate for pain, don’t wait until the pain gets too severe. Listen to your body and keep us updated how you are.

@Rick951 good morning..Well bad news was,EVERYTHING wore off last night,so it got a little rough for a bit..But it wasn’t a bad as I expected...Still,I was a big baby..But feeling much better this morning..I’ll be going home today...

I’m glad you feel better this morning. There will be lots of ups and downs, but, you got this! :console2:

@Sara61 good morning..Yes! I had fooled myself, lol Thinking I was pain free..But once everything wore off....Oh boy!!!!But it’s great to hear ,it does get better

@Josie1054 oh it’s so good to know I’m not alone!☺️Yes! I felt exactly like you did!Until reality struck! But it’s such a relief to know it does get better ..Thank you!
