I had an AHA moment this AM and I thought I would share it with you. While in the shower I prop my leg up on the back of the tub to shave my legs. Everytime I do this and have my affected leg propped up I brace myself for this intense pain when putting it back down with full weight bearing. It's a fleeting pain that only lasts a millisecond but I know it's coming. Today, I was ready for the pain but there wasn't any! I had my surgery on 01/12/09 and it's finally dawned on me what you folks have been saying, at 6 months I AM still healing. Just wanted to share this with you who may have had the same experience. Great I am really happy for you. And that does go to show that maybe 6 mths is that mark...Glad you shared gives me something to look forward to. Hope you have more of these ah's...Congradulations!!!!!!

LOL I am sure that Aha moment is only really and truely appreciated by us women. Shaving the legs is one huge project. I have a stand up shower stall and just this past week have been able to use a small plastic step stool about 9 inches high to put my foot up on to shave. I can get the operated leg up without a problem....going easy on the way down though...but as I stand on the operated foot to shave my good leg if I lean up against the wall of the shower. Before I had to use the shower chair in the tub.

Oldbones,
Funny that you should post that this morning. I had just put my new hip leg (one year old) on the counter in the bathroom for no reason other than I like to do it . No pain, easy to get up there. My other hip hurts when I do that so I alternate and smile:D
It is not too new for me , but still after a year amazing.
yes , shaving legs has been a nightmare for me for almost 2 years. Since I started my surgery marathon I have not been allowed to bend, to reach or whatever . I tried the nair stuff, I bought an electric razor, I bought some long handled contraption that you attach a razor to. :sigh: I've tried it all!!!!

Glad you see more improvement. I just love my new hip:wub:

Great thread, Bones.....the kind of "ah-ha" we love to hear!

WOW! Clean shaven legs--my hairy ones are jealous--and will be for a while yet. I'm just happy that I can now stand in the shower long enough to get clean and to wash my hair without that woozy feeling--LOL!
Blessings,
Irene

Great news Oldbones.
