Will try to get this in a nutshell. April 1st 2019 TKR left knee. Normal recovery I believe.
Started physio at 3 weeks-I'd been doing the excercises at home first-stretching, heel slides etc. Extension 0 in the hospital but low flexion. Can't remember what it was in hospital. After a month of physio I was still struggling with my flex ROM which was 85 at 2 months.
MUA at 11 weeks. Physio that day and every day for 2 weeks then tapered down till a month later I reached 126. Physio thrilled, Surgeon thrilled and I was released from therapy.
Did my exercises at home. On the stationary bike every day . Probably a month later my knee was stiffening up and becoming more painful. I could bend it fine, although with pain but it didn't want to bend as I walked.
Saw the surgeon again and he said xrays are perfect and it's inflammation and to try stay off it and ice and elevate and take Aleve for 10 days. Didn't seem to make any difference.
That was 2 months ago. Pain has increased very much.
Surgery for my right knee is April 21st and I'm not sure what to do. The pain in my operated knee is SO much worse now than before the TKR. Much much worse than my unoperated knee which my surgeon said is bone on bone.
I don't think I can dare to take a chance of this happening to my right knee. I see my surgeon in January. When I last saw him in October he seemed very puzzled that my pain was increasing. Took a blood test to check for an infection marker which was negative.
I'm on my feet probably 8 hours a day on average. Would like to be more but my knee swells too much. It's significantly larger than the unoperated knee. Constant dull pain all day that I can walk off as I'm busy but the nights are awful. What to do??
