Hello. In less than a week I will be going to help my step mother post hip replacement surgery. I will be there for a little over a week to help out. I have no idea what to expect. I've been reading posts to try to get an idea. I will be getting her out of rehab.
Will she need someone with her 24/7?
Will she be able to go out of the house?
Will I be able to leave her in a week (she lives alone)?
How can I help her get ready for when I'm gone?

I appreciate your patience with me and any and all suggestions you can give.

Re: Advice for THR recovery needed

If she's going to rehab (I think) she should be reasonably ambulant and have mastered all the rudiments of using the toilet and getting dressed.

However, she will still appreciate some help getting into and out of bed, getting dressed, particularly shoes and stockings/socks.

Preparing meals and doing housework will be out of the question as will things like washing up and laundry.

Hope this helps some but I'm sure others will chip in and share some first hand advice.

I moved your post out into a thread of it's own as I think it will get more attention that way.
