If you aren't ready for the side leg lift lying on your side, how about the standing version?

And it is sort of important to strengthen that muscle.
Otherwise, you're pelvis will tend to do this when you walk ....

There is no big rush to master that leg lift though if you are still early in recovery.
There will be plenty of time for leg lifts later if you don't feel up to doing them right now.
