I was concerned since on Thursday I was at 75 degrees. My PT was talking
MUA (manipulation) as a likely next step . I lost a few days of progress with the post operative hematoma (last Tuesday) , but quickly improved. He added an exercise that really helped. While I can't manage a single rotation on my spinning bike, getting on the bike and taking a backward/forward revolution to the 'sticking' point really helped. I do 4 sets of 10 reps each direction. Anyway, I added over 15" of flexion in two days!! Of course I am paying the price right now. My knee is real sore and and I been on ice most of this afternoon. Had to take a Percocet an hour earlier than scheduled.

In his (my PT) opinion, my improvement would indicate that I have no adhesions . He did say my progression day to day , week to week, should be significantly less dramatic. I figure I need at least 105 degrees to actually ride a bike (stationary or regular). He also cleared me to go to the gym and work on upper body exercises (machines). Things are looking up!

Wow that is great for 12 days...I think you are doing fantastic . Keep it up. Yes being only 12 days please ice alot.....Im so happy for you thought.....keep posting we love hereing from you...

Under the circumstances, I think you're doing really, really well. 2½ mile walks, eh? Gosh, I am impressed! :thmb:

Hey SS. When you do get that first spin on the bike it will be amazing. I remember when I have my first turn on the bike. I was shocked, I tried so hard and thought I would never get it. When it went around noone was looking, so then I called my husband and kids around to see if it really happened I couldnt believe it, and I did it again. I really had a tear come down my face....lol...Lil things like that make me realize I could do this....Keep posting your recovery stories and the first time you go around on the bike....You keep trying you will be fine....PS keep rocking back and forth and it will go around.

Same for me. At 3 weeks post-op, my PT started me on the bike. I couldn't go all the way around, so she said go as far as I can then go the other way. After a few minutes of that, I realized I was at the top of the arc of the circle. I tried and was easily able to go all the way around! That was a great moment for me too. Just by warming up the knee with the partial motion helped me to go all the way. Keep up the good work! Best wishes, Paula

I agree with gang...I was convinced that I would never be able to get all the way around! Then as I watching someone else to PT, it just happened. I was shocked. One time only...next session three times...next 86 times and then to minutes. I still remember the excitement I felt :wahey: You will get there one day at a time...YOU are doing AWESOME..keep up the hard work!

I remember when I first did an 'all round'. I had been biking little bits every so often and then came a point where I sort of wondered could I ... So I tried to go over the top but ever so, ever so slowly and I made it! Then again and once again and I was away. Great feeling!

Yep, even if you have to kind of lift your hip up the first few times, the fact that you go all the way around is HUGE! And it just keeps getting easier each time until you are actually riding the bike. Amazing!
