Hi Everyone,
I havent written in a couple of weeks, not that I didnt want to, I did read some posts and was in so much pain due to my Fibromyalgia so my fingers hurt so bad I couldnt type.
My knee is doing great I still have some pain but PT is helping me with that. I do have a question about useing the tub seat and the toilet seat when do you know you dont need them anymore?
I hope everyone is doing great, until my fingers will let me type more I will write more. Hugs Peggy

Good to hear from you, Peggy. But I'm sorry you are hurting right now. Makes sense that major surgery like this might cause your Fibromyalgia to act up. Hope the pain improves soon so you can REALLY enjoy your new knee.

Hi Peggy! Sorry your fibromyalgia is acting up! In answer to your questions....I would think when YOU are safe and comfortable enough t give those aids up! Definitely up to YOU!! Feel better!! ((:0)

Peggy...I love my shower seat..I may keep mine forever!

Give them up when you are ready. Sorry you are having challenges. My daughter has Fibro as well and it is a at a time challenge. Try to destress...try some quiet music. Are you sleeping?? If not check with your Fibro doc...you know how lack of sleep hurts.

Best wishes
Barb

Peggy,
Sorry to hear that you are having fibromyalgia flare up. I hope that it gets better soon!!
Pain has so hard to live with it just wants to steal your energy. I will pray that you
get better every day.

Hello, Peggy. I think the answer is that there is no answer! You ditch them when you feel ready. If you take the seat off and find you still want it, put it back again and try again later. That's it really.

Hey Peggy Im glad you got to post sorry your hurting..........I agree only when you feel like you are comfortable............Post when you can, get better soon..............)

I still have my toilet seat after 9 months. I COULD manage without it, but found myself leaning of the radiator, which is not good. I thing that part of my reason is I have weak arm muscles, but at the moment I can't foresee when I will not use it, because it makes life more comfortable for me.

I also still have a bath chair lift for the same reason.

I wonder whether it would be better for me to try to cope without these.

Silver, it would not be a good idea to do away with any aid that you need. If you are not strong enough or stable enough to be comfortable in the bath or shower....use the aids! A large majority of home accidents happen in the bathroom and it's not worth the risk.

Instead, why don't you see about getting a few appointments ordered from your doctor at a therapist to strengthen your arms and core muscles. Once you learn the exercises, you can do them yourself at home. Core strengh is key to balance.
