At 4 weeks post I went to the mall with my wife for a little personal PT. I had the usual stiffness but not much knee pain as I was still taking pain meds regular and at PT. The pain I encountered was foot pain, and I mean I was miserable. She headed for the girley stuff I went the a shoe store (basic shoes not ortho) and what a difference. After about 2 minutes of walking in the store the pain subsided and I bought a new pair of shoes and have no more pain. I have since gone through all of my old shoes and had to replace about 75% ! noone had any noticable tread wear but the insoles must have worn.

Congratulations... no more pain is the best!

My husband had the same experience. Because of being bone-on-bone, his knees had become very bowed. After his 2 TKR's, his legs were straight again (plus he gained an inch in height) and because of the tread wear on his old shoes, new shoes were definitely in order.

Me too! The shoes I ALWAYS wore pre-TKR because they were the only ones that resembled comfortable are now the worst and certianly no good for shopping/walking. The bowing distortion is the reason our scars aren't straight. In the beginning when they cut it is, but by the time the line up the bones, the cut is crooked. No drunken surgeons to blame.

Thanks for that explanation. I wondered why the scar wasn't straight.
