Just returned from 6 week check up and my OS couldn't believe how good I'm doing. I had 129 ROM and straight. I'm riding bike every morning for 30 mins and doing treadmill 2 miles, and I fill great. But what shocked me is my OS said unless I have problems no need to come back until June 19, 2010. I'm very happy because I have to drive 3 hours oneway to get to his office, but is this the norm after 6 weeks post op?

Wow that is terrific ROM....Well I think you are doing fantastic. Dont question it be happy !!!!!!!!! Still I would take it easy dont go running around the block..lol... You dont want to go backwards . Keep doing what you are doing it seems to be working......I am very happy for you......Thats pretty amazing...........:) Keep us posted down the road please...

For what its worth, I had an appointment following my MUA (April 27, so I saw the doc in May) and was told not to come back till September. Not exactly a year, but after my September 3rd appointment, I fully expect to be told not to come back at all (or till the one year mark).

Like Kim said - don't question it - be happy!

Rsmith....what fantastic news!!! Time to celebrate!

At the year check up your OS will most likely take base line xrays of your knees to keep tabs on the wear of the plastic insert. I do not have to go back now for another 2 years for an updated xray on the spacers within the knee. If they start to wear out, it is much easier to replace the plastic spacer insert than to redo the entire procedure. The implants can stay forever if we take good care of them. It is the spacers that wear out.....

Yes my OS took ex-rays of both knees and said we will check then June 19, 2010. His office called me this morning and said Dr had cleared me to take my NCAA basketball schedule for the up coming season. Man this blows me away I'm so excited I just want to go run a mile right now. I know I can't yet but I would love to. I've e-mail all 13 supervisor's and told them I've been cleared to accept my schedules for up coming year. He told me to up my workouts on the treadmill slow that I'm jogging 1 mile with in the next 5 weeks. But if I have any problems stop and call him ASAP for appointment. Man you don't know how excited I'am about this news.
Thanks for everyone thats giving me infor. on this site this is the greatest site for TKR's. And everyone here has real experince not just someone telling you what they think maybe ture.

:amen:

Just remember to pay close attention to your knee and the limit it sets. If you push too much, you'll be in bed for at least a day to recoop, while icing and elevating. Not much fun, so be sensitive to your abilities and boundaries. (Of course I'm posting this from my bed while icing and elevating, because I overdid way too much yesterday!)

I have to say I am very happy for you, Rom of 129 that is something I will never see but I will try too. Keep on going!!!

That is so cool.. I am five weeks out with both knees..and am at 130-139 ROM...we are the lucky ones..no scar adhsions! Walking with hiking poles now, but yet to start biking and treadmill..you are ahead of me there...good going..out clinic therapy will put me on the machines..soon...Yea! You!

Hi --Congratulations. You are doing so well---also lissa---at 5 weeks. Yeah!!!

Yesterday----less than 2 weeks after surgery I measured 123 with my left knee. I have worked hard--home PT has pushed me and I have loved it. I do not need any walking aides-inside--and I so much want to be back to my much more active lifestyle. So far I've had a fabulous recovery with minimal pain.

So I hope I can duplicate you're progress. Take care---be sure to ice and rest too! Nancy
