Yesturday I went for my 6 weeks check up and both my husband and I were shocked what the doctor said to us :shk: First I was told I can stop my Coumadin yes no more blood tests! that nice white surgical sock no more!!He also said its normal for one side of the knee to be hot, some swelling, numbness, the pain should be going away in 2 more months, the pain that I feel in the middle of my leg is since the rod is longer, and that pain I get going down my scar is normal every thing healing and that low grade fever not to worry about it some people do get a fever and since my didnt get above 100 I am fine! I was given a Lifetime Infectious Precautions Paper when to use antibiotics from all dental work, podiatry procedures, gastroenterolgy, gastrointestinal, urology procedures, including sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopy, cystoscopy, proctoscopy, turp.
I also got a paper on maintaining your total knee replacement and now I can go swimming but the summer is amost gone think I will join the Ymca, Did you know squats are the most complete leg exercise, I dont know if I can do that one yet, need to try it. Did you know that you only have 2-3 months from surgery to get your leg out straight and when the doctor ask me to put my leg out he was socked when I put it out so straight he said most people dont get it that straight until the 10 th week and when I bend my knee it when back there and after that hour drive I didnt think I could get it to bend but the whole time in the car I kept on doing my exercises and iced it.So my doctor gaved me a gold star and he said that people that get revisions have a harder time. I told him after walking and haveing all that pain for over 2 years with a bad replacement that I kept on saying (You can do it) and I did! I had my xrays done and asked him how does my right knee look and I do have arthritis but when my left knee is better my right knee wont take as must stress as its been taken for the last couple of years and it looks right now I have at least 5 more years. So after seeing and talking to my OS he said I dont need to see him next month since I am doing great and my next visit is in 10 months:thmb: After our visit we walked a couple of streets to have a Philadelphia Cheese steak sandwich something I have been asking for since I was in the hospital and boy was it great:hehe: The next time I will get one of thoses will be on my annv.date. That was my great day out !

Wow, Peggy....what spectacular news!!! You must be walking on air (and with a good new knee too!). I'm so happy for you. You must continue to let us know how you get along. It will be fun to hear of other new milestones you reach.

Fantastic! You must have been delighted to get all that good news in one go. I'm really, really pleased for you.

Yay, Peggy! Great news! Now you can really celebrate!!! :thmb::thmb:

That's fantastic. :D

Geez, at six weeks, I was barely a week out from my manipulation and I used a wheelchair to get around my kids' school for parent/teacher conferences! (can't tell me I'm not a dedicated parent- got out of the hospital on Tuesday AM, Thursday PM, I was wheelin' around the school). :hehe:

Peggy,
How great is that? Now you can start getting back into life by pacing yourself and doing things you used to participate. What a great thing...... Have fun exercising, icing, elevating, and enjoying life!
At 10 months you will feel great!

Peggy,
I am so happy for you!!! I can only say you have come through a very bad time of it and came out into the light!!! Now you new adventure is about to begin and you are more then ready for it!!!!

Peggy that is soooooooo great. Glad you are doing so well. Now I hope the rest is smooth sailing for you.

Peggy,
Way to go! We are all so proud of you! Keep it up!

Thanks Everyone, I still have work in front of me and now I know all that hard work I did payed off.Only if I could get my Fibromyalgia under control life would be pain free and I am working with my pain doctor on that but so far the meds. that are out there isnt working for me. But one day the right med will be right for me,so thats my next goal in life.
