Hi all
I am at 5 weeks post op on a left partial. Surgery was not too bad, after the anesthesiologist gave me something for my nerves! I had an epidural and felt no pain. I did wake up half way through the procedure, but since I was in no pain, I decided to stay awake. I reminded me of my c-sections, lots of tugging but nothing hurt. I was in the hospital 2 days and could not wait to get home!!! I was dying to shower!! I went home with crutches and was surprised at how easy it was to get around. I only used the crutches in the house for a few days and a week outside the house. I took a lot of meds in the hospital and went home with Oxycodonie. It seems to do the trick. I think I finally have the handle on when to take it to keep the pain at bay.I know that some of you had those stocking things, and I am so glad that my Dr. does not use them. I think I am using less ice then what I have been reading about. I have very little swelling, but enough pain! I saw the Dr. at the 2 week mark and was at 110 rom. He was thrilled (me too). I started PT and it has been a struggle, but I am plugging away. Today my rom was 113. I stared soaking in a warm tub at week 3 and that really helped. I hate ice, but the water feels great. I think what has surprised me the most is that while I expected the pain, I did not think that I would be this tired! I still feel a bit run over. I also have no concentration, I can barely concentrated to read, I think that it is the meds. I have a really bad habit of over doing it, so I am trying to tell myself, I am only at 5 weeks. DH was really terrible the first few days home, but after that he has been amazing. I think it really freaked him out seeing me just laying around (I never do that). Unfortunately our insurance sucks, so I only get a few more PT appointments, but I am either going to switch to a program that I pay for in the PT's gym or swim. I have to ask the DR. when I see him Monday which one he prefers. I am also hoping to schedule the right knee for June when I see him. I have loved these boards!!! Thank you to all, even thought I am not up to reading books, I have been reading the boards!

Congradulations on your success. Sounds like you are doing everything right. I hope for a speedy recovery and let us know about your other knee. Keep up the good work...Kim

Good for you. ..MM!!! It only gets better from here on in! :)

Mommyme....HOORAY for you!!! You're doing so well! It probably did freak your hubby out to see you after surgery.....glad he came around. And I'm thrilled that the forum is of value to you. It is easier to concentrate on the smaller posts and some of the fun things people say than - say - a novel or anything you have to focus on too long. This is your time for YOU. Rest, relax and enjoy a sort of vacation from the norm. And....keep up the great work in recovery. So glad you decided to post. Your story will benefit others who are in recovery or considering surgery.

Oh, and the tiredness does eventually go away. Don't fight it...sleep every time when you are tired and it will go faster.

How's your appetite? I could handle the tiredness but not being able to eat - boy, did that ever suck!

I had the same problem mommyme tired and hungry one or the other!
I had hoped to lose weight also but to no avail.
Now I'm not so tired but still, unfortunately, seem to have a good appetite.
I am hoping that all the exercise at physio will help and once I can get outside and cycle every day - maybe then. Always hopeful!
Good luck and keep up that great attitude!
Diane
