Hey everyone!!! Vets and newbies! I haven't posted in awhile - pc crashed, sent my only child to college (snif snif) ... got a new pc - yada yada. My RTKR was in April, MUA was May 2nd. I struggled mightily with PT and was on the fence about continuing therapy or murderizing my therapist. I opted for the therapy (wink). I must say that without the ability to read these posts and review previous posts my recovery would just not feel smooth. I had really low moments (right before MUA) ... and really high moments (the first time I got around on the bike) ... and lots of just frustration with what I thought was lack of progress. Now i'm here at 4 months feeling as if I might actually be glad I had the surgery --- my OS told me to let him know once I realize i'm glad I did it. I'm still ticked about the pain so i'm not quite there yet. I have improved 85%! I walk without a cane, can walk my new puppy around the block ....TWICE! I ride my recumbent bike for 20 minute shots 3 times a day. I can get in and out of the car now without grimacing. I can walk up the steps (slowly) and back down (even more slowly). And - ta daaa - now I can also ride my motorcycle!
I don't take any prescription meds - just Aleve from time to time. Sleeping at night is still not the best because the pain from not moving wakes me up sometimes. I just started sleeping at night without a sleeping pill - yeah!
I still have a bit of swelling and numbness on the outside of my knee - along with a crazy knot. And, I still have pain from time to time. Some days worse than others - not sure why but it isn't unbearable. I don't go back to my OC until November.
At my last appointment he had me walk up and down the hall way and told me to stop strutting - just walk! Yipeee!!
I hope those of you that are starting out - keep up the work. Don't get lazy and don't settle. Do the work - it pays off!!
