I hit the 4 month mark since my BTKR surgery. I was hoping I would be better at this point but as my pt said with my orthopedic history it is amazing that I am walking at all. I have to keep that in mind.
As with everyone, I am impatient. I want to be walking without a limp or handling stairs better, or having a better ROM than the 105+ degrees I have but I guess I have to realize that all of us do not heal the same and some of us have improvement after the surgery but not a complete fix. I saw my OS on Wednesday and he said I am "functional" and that is good. He told me to stop pt and continue the exercises on my own. He does not need to see me for 3 months.
I have had a few set-back including having surgery on my breast this past week. (I get the biopsy results next Monday but I am optimistic and so is my doctor.) I am trying to keep a positive outlook and plan to continue to work towards improvement and not be content with "functional" only 4 months out.
