I'm getting more anxious and I guess excited to think the day is coming when my right hip avascular neucrosis will be gone along with the pain , and I'll have a new hip. I will be renting a hospital bed to sleep in, that way I can put it in my living room and feel as though I'm still included with everything going on in my house. Good luck to everyone. I will be back to post how my recovery is going when I get back home.

Hey Brenda welcome I think most of us got uptight before hand you will be ok just do what the tell you after and you will be ok....We will also be here to help in anyway we can.............Good luck to you I hope you post after and let us know how you are doing....anything we can do even just talk we will be there.........Blessings........

Yes, these last few days are the worst, I think. Kind of the lull before the storm! Wishing you all the very best, Brenda.

Thank you , and I want to say good luck to Tracie who is having surgery on the 22nd. I will be thinking of you.

Best wishes to you, Brenda....not many more days to wait now. The waiting is definitely the hardest part!!!

Good luck!! Once you get to the hospital it will FLY by!
I have AVN and since my surgery on the 10th....I DO NOT LIMP!! woo hoo
Hang in there...you will be so glad you did this.
Erika

Hey Erika! You're way ahead of schedule! Are you sure you don't limp!!! (Only kidding, Girl!!). (:)0)!

Judles,
I dont limp.....I kinda sssllllliiiddddeee my right leg lol :)
Got my staples out yesterday and was informed by my OS that I have "chicken legs"!! Can you believe that? Apparently I have to get awhole lot more aggressive w/my PT. (In fact, I informed my OS that he was MEAN while I was in his office.) The exercises he was making me do..HURT!! Also told him and my husband the only reason they were emphasizing the butt clench was because they wanted me to get a tighter butt. OS said it was a man thing with a grin!! Nice to have a OS act like a real person.
Cheers,
Erika

Erika, sounds like you are doing very well. Are you able to walk very far yet? I passed my last med exam today, so all is in order for the 24th. Tracie had her surgery today. I hope everything went well for her. Thank you for all of the encouragement it really helps.
Brenda

Brenda,
lets see...I am day 13 I think. The first days home from the hospital were the worst. That darn leg weighed 300 lbs. Getting on and off the bed was tough. Tears came without warning...but that was more the meds, shock, surgery than pain. Got my staples out 2 days ago and the incision looks pretty darn good. No bruising or swelling.
I had non-cemented so I am still partial weight bearing and will be for a while. He told me Mon I could use crutches instead of the walker but I havent tried them yet. Walker works pretty good just SLOW!
The best thing that I discovered is YOU HAVE TO MOVE. The more you move the less it hurts! Even last night I was doing exercises at 1:00 am to try to ease the night pains. (The nights SUCK. Cant wait to sleep a whole night through.) Dont get me wrong...it is not near as bad as the pain right after the surgery....just something about nights that gets some of us down.
So..I only walk around the house..and do my PT exercises but I feel pretty good about where I am. I really dont want to go to town to try to walk some. Pure vanity. At 41, I DO NOT want to be seen slowly hobbling thru town on my walker. yuch!
I am so glad I had this done. Now just gotta get past it to get the other one done.
Good luck today. Try to stay busy. Tomorrow will be here before you know it and then once you get to the hosp it flies by.
We all will be thinking about you tomorrow.
Erika

Brenda good luck tomorrow. We will be here waiting to find out how it went. You of course will be just fine. I'm excited for you. Just remember to take those pain meds on time and stool softeners.

Thanks for all of the positive remarks I am getting. I am nervous, but thanks to all of you, I am not scared anymore. I wish you all the best and thank you for your support.

That's wonderful! You'll be supported by us all in thought and word and prayer. God bless!

Hey there Erika!

Glad your recovery seems to be going so well. You guys give me lots of encouragement!

And I hear ya on the vanity thing. But sometimes darnit, ya just want to live your life too.

I hate that walker but mainly because it's so slow and clunky. I got over the vanity thing long ago. I don't give a flying fig what anyone thinks. I decided to go OUT to lunch today because I was tired of eating at my desk. LOL

I went to one of my favorite Vietnamese noodle houses and got some Pho soup! Yum :D
