Come this Friday (May 15th) I will have 1 month in. I am doing very well. I have therapy 3x's a week and have been able to cut back on my pain meds. I still take two Hydrocodone before bed and 1 before a therapy session. My bend is at 137 and the measurement for my leg being straight is 0. The only complaint I have is I pulled a muscle in my shoulder about a week ago. It is my shoulder that keeps me up at night . Sigh###
I see my family doc this Friday and will be asking him about my shoulder. Hopefully the weather is nice this coming weekend for we have planned a camping trip which I am looking forward to. So all in all if it wasn't for my shoulder I would be a very happy camper...My tkp is coming along wonderful.

Wow Jenniferne 3 weeks and camping......That is terrific. You are doing so well. I am very happy for you keep it up. Sorry about the shoulder though I m sure he can do something, then you will be on your way. Let us know how it goes....Congradulations..............Kim

Great Jenniferne,Where do you go camping at? When my children had their last day of school we packed up and camp the summer away (we belong to a camp ground) We even did winter camping. My kids are now grown and they still talk about the good days and they are still freinds with the kids they grew up with.
Sorry about your shoulder how did you pull your muscle?.....Peggy

Jenniferne, you are doing SO well! Congratulations!!! Now you need to take care of your shoulder! Have a great time camping. And thanks so much for taking time to post such a positive story. It will help those who are yet to have their surgery know that good days are ahead.

My favorite camping ground is Lewis n Clark here in Nebraska but a real short drive to South Dakota. Our grandson who is 3yrs old just loves camping and boating. Now the boating this time I think I will pass and leave that to my hubby and two sons and grandson. Oh and not to forget my (dog) Sam who is a Westie. He adores camping...
There are alot of forums out there on total knee replacements. The first forum I had found was soooooooo negative it had me running to the hills. I had talked with my sister who has had both her knees done and told me there are more good tkp than bad. I then found this site and I can't tell you how relieved I was. Trust me when I say I almost backed out after reading so many horror stories. I don't know what I would of done if I would not of found BoneSmart. I am only 50 and wanted to be able to do the things I use to do ( like walking my dog). I sure can tell the difference between my tkp leg and the one that has yet to be done. The leg that needs a tkp hurts to high heaven while my tkp leg is still in the recovery stage but feels so much better. You have to go in with a positive attitude and know everything is going to get better.
Life is to short to sit on the sidelines and watch everyone else play.

I am at 6 months post op and have had about the same remarkable results that you have had. I have been hunting, camping, fishing etc since about 2 months post op. I am so glad you found this forum, along with all of the pain and suffering there are truely some amazing stories of fast recoveries and post op activities that some of thought would never happen again. keep up the good work and good luck.

Max

Really Jenn you are doing so well. I cant get over it. You really are moving fast. I wish I was that fast. I mean I am doing well but I dont think I could go camping so when you get back tell me about it and Ill live thru you Lol Kim

Jenn it's great to hear how well you're doing. The camping sounds wonderful! I'm looking forward to some of that maybe in the fall; you can't camp anywhere in this area (NJ and north) during the summer; too many people!!! I am nearly 4 months from RTKR and am doing just about everything I did when my knee was healthy except run. which I plan to doi again when the muscles are ready. and you are so right about not sitting on the sidelines of life!!! that's why we have these operations. To live again! On our own terms!! so go to it!!!

Fantastic Jenn.

Have fun camping.

PS, How funny just in the past few weeks I've developed shoulder trouble too. Doc thinks it's just pulled muscles. So I don't worry about it too much, probably all the upper body work you do when the bottom half needs help getting up and down etc.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder Chris. Was it something you did or it just started.? I sure hope you feel better soon, Take care .................Kim
