It's now been 3 weeks since my BTKR and I'm told that I'm doing great. I can straighten both knees to zero and my ROM is at about 115 in each. Walking with a cane with really no pain. Actually enjoying therapy. Begin each session with the heat packs and muscle stimulus. Then it's on to the bike and other equipment. I can see where the bike is so important because it really gets rid of the stiffness. No room in my house for a full size exercise bike so I've ordered one of those mini cycles that you use while sitting in a chair. I'll let everyone know how it works. My only big problem is still SLEEP! Tonight I'm going to try Tylenol PM to see if I can get more than a couple hours at a stretch. Overall, I'm still glad I did both knees. Now I need some patience to realize it will still take awhile til I'm fully recovered.

Good to hear how well you are doing, congrats and keep up the hard work. Sleep comes. And the knees become less obvious in bed when together. Have you tried a full body pillow or pillow between the knees? I had both done together also and remember the longest time of feeling like they were knocking together like a couple of pots and pans.

Nancy,
Glad you are doing so well. I have no had the opportunity to use a bike yet, which is probably why my ROM is only 83 and 85.

We "bilats" have to stick together! I am a little over two weeks out and will start outpatient PT next week. I have it at home through this week so have not had the advantage yet of using a bike. I have been sleeping on my back, but with difficulty. I think Jenn's suggestion of a body pillow is great. I may try that. I tried last night sleeping a bit on my side with pillows between my legs, and it felt SO good for a short time to just get off my back.

I look forward to hearing your progress, as we are very close with BKTR. I, too, am glad I had both done because I sure wouldn't want to go through this again!
