Yes, it definitely takes time. I thought my limp was gone a month ago too, until my co-worker pointed it out to me. I actually asked her to point it out to me each time so it helps to correct me.

Thats great news Melissa! Remember to bring a pair of flat shoes just in case, because you will be on your feet the entire day, and then dancing, and you don't want to have to fake-smile in the photos. Ballet slippers can be elegant with a gown. Ok stop me now, I sound like a mother, LOL!

Have a great time! I will be in AC this weekend-----I have tix to Fleetwood Mac, yay!

Don't you just love the tact that some people employ for their coworkers!!

Exercise is good and always helpful, but don't worry if it takes a while to get your full normal gait back. Your body will get there in its own time.

Hi
I`m really pleased that things are going well for you.:thmb:
I thought my limp was improving until I saw a colleague at work yesterday for the first time since my op, and she said `why are you waddling!!!`:sct: More exercises etc.. I think!!!!

Folks: I've got the same standing request at my office to let me know anytime my gait goes a bit off. What are friends for anyway.
Fortunately, it's been pretty good lately!

You guys are right, of course. It does help to have someone remind you if your gait has slipped back into old habits because they ARE hard to break. I guess it was the term "waddling" that got me .... such an unflattering way to help someone.

My OS specifically told me it would take quite a while to get rid of my limp because of how much length he added. I'm at 8 weeks post-op and I really only feel like I limp after I sit for a while, but what I feel and what is reality are likely different. My wife is good about letting me know when I'm limping.

Hey all! So the wedding went well -in my heels! I only stayed in them for a bit. The entire bridal party changed to flip flops during the reception -so that was nice. Maybe I'll post a pic in the other thread later. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hop -hope you had good luck in AC -how was Fleetwood Mac? That must have been a good show.

Time.....and MORE time!!! The limp WILL resolve!!! HEEL TOE!!! The OLD mantra......tried but true!!!! Be PATIENT with yourselves!!!!

Fleetwood Mac was excellent! They did all of their hits, and in between songs they explained why they wrote some songs----how the lyrics related to their personal lives and what was going on. I can't believe that they can still jam like that at their ages! They are like 13 years older than me, and I am old! Stevie Nicks looks younger now than she did in the 80's. (Must be botox, restylin and hair weaves.)
She wore her usual black gauntlets and shawl, and a goth-like dress. Great idea for a trademark-look, she can gain weight and no one would ever know.

The gambling in AC was bad though------since the casinos are hurting for business, they crank the slots tighter, so they don't hit much. I had the room at Caesars for 2 days, but left after one day before I got sucked in to dropping more money.
We ate at Primavera in Caesars------great Italian food!

I asked my sister to let me know when I limp, and it was a lot of the time! I need to work on it. What do you think the best type of exercise is to target the problem? Stretching or strengthening?

Judles how are you doing these days? I hope you are feeling a little better. I never met Zoe but I think about her all the time.

Hi Hop! My hubby saw Fleetwood Mac when he was in Vegas with his buds and thought they were great, too! Thanks for asking how I am.....we STILL miss little Zoe like crazy! We've been taking care of our daughters little teacup poodle. Edie. She was in the hospital Tmy vet bills for this month alone have been totally astronomical!!! :().... She weighed 1 lb 1e oz when she was released from the hospital! We've even been force feeding her with a syringe .....the nurses in the hospital spoiled her by hand feeding her! They even madetoys for her to play with! She has definitely been filling the void,,,,but we'll be giving her back to Lyndsey as soon as the vet says she's strong enough to be on her own....a day I'm dreading! :( How is Lola? I've been thinking about her so much! How's your hubby? Hope his meds are helping! Your limp WILL go awy! It just seems to go away when you're not thinking about it!

Aw that's a small pup Judles! Will you be getting another one to keep? Lola is doing well, but I am still potty training her at 2 years old! I missed her while I was in AC. I never crate-trained her because I thought it was cruel to cage her, but I am starting to see why they do it now.

Hubby is doing well on meds, the Keppra & klonnapin keep him away from seizures, but I still have to drive him everywhere for a few more months just to make sure they don't return before he can feel safe driving.

"Here's to better days!"

Hi ladies, I need to bravely ask if anyone notices that I still limp. At almost 10 months I feel like I am walking w/o it most of time.

Melissa, beautiful pictures of the wedding on your facebook. sure looks like you are recovering well.

have a good day. Hope it dries up and the sun comes out!!!

Laurie

Hi Laurie! What do you mean if anyone notices if you limp? The best way to tell is observe yourself In a mirror.....or walking past store windows! You must be having so much fun making all these wedding plans for your daughter!lf

Hopalong, Fleetwood Mac are one of my favourite bands - it sounds like you had a wonderful time. I have never seen them live, but I bet they were fantastic.

I recently saw Tina Turner over here on her UK part of her tour, and she certainly didn't disapoint either! What a voice and the stamina of someone who is 70 this year, put my dodgy old hip to shame lol. She did a solid two and half hours or performance, mainly rock with just a couple of slower ballads thrown in.

Seems like the acts are the best, eh?

Steph! I saw Tina 2 weeks out of surgery! I figured if SHE could get out there and strut HER stuff at 70.. then the least thing I could do was hobble to see her!!! BEST concert!!! :)

Laurie

If you have a camera have some film you as you are walking and
you will be able to see. Some phones will do a small film but enough for you to see.

I am 2 1/2 months and every once in a while I notice I am limping.
But when my leg is tired or swollen.

I would love to see Tina Turner in concert------love her! She doesn't tour much here in NJ.
My favorite concerts that were in Caesars own caberet lounge, were Chicago, and Diana Ross-----at 60-something, she looked 19!!!!
Chicago was so great that I had to see them 3 times!

This was my 3rd Fleetwood Mac concert over the years too----and they only get better.........do these entertainers have the fountain of youth hidden somewhere?
(Except Rod Steward was definitely showing his age in concert, he had to sit and sing the second half)

Glad to hear your hubby's seizures are under control (hopefully gone like mine are). I remember being petrified to drive when I started again. I did not want any one in the car with me , I only drove when I really had to . A few months later and all a memory. Hope you two will be there soon.

Absolutely! My daughter came with me and she was 6 months pregnant at the time and I was walking on a crutch (pre surgery), so we were a good pair together, but it didn't stop me getting up and dancing (leaning on the stick for support). She was just so amazing though. I had wanted to see her since I was 15 and Nutbush was in the charts. You're right - it was the best concert I have seen :D
