3 months after complete knee replacement, I now have a rash on my knee, knee is swollen, and swollen right below knee on the tibula. I took 3 Benadrils in case I am having an allergic reaction to something, other then that I have been taking 3 Advils twice a day for pain. What do you guys think could be going on? Thanks and have a Merry Christmas to you all and a Happy New Years.

Thanks

Mayra-
I am 5 months out from rtkr and still have significant swelling. If your swelling is new I might just give a call to the OS. With the holidays I tend to be proactive instead of reactive... I hate ERs and figure better to be safe than to spend Xmas somewhere I dont want to be. Could the rash be from sothing rubbing due to the swelling. If you have good rapport with the OS give him a shout, the worse they can tell you is to not worry about it!

Merry Christmas - Hope things get better for you!

I have a rash too, and it's very strange! I'm 4 months out from RTKR. The rash is on the outside part of my knee, near the incision, kind of rectangular, right at the area where everything is numb. Very scaly.

It hasn't spread, but it's scaly and itchy. I am concerned, but figured I'd have my primary doctor check it out when I see him in January.

I don't think it's caused by anything rubbing because of its odd positioning. I don't think it's a reaction to the Aquaphor I put on my knee daily because it's just one odd area, very rectangular, about 1" x 2". If it was the cream, it would be all over my knee, I would think.

I don't have any skin problems as a rule, so it's very strange.

Beats me ~ one of those things you have to see to make any conclusions.

Kimgrif, that is exactly what I have right in the outside of my knee, I had my knee replacement on my left knee and the rash is on the left side of my knee, it is scaly also. I will call the doctor tomorrow, the swelling has gone down, I think the swelling came from me walking alot, but I am still soar. When I go to sleep at night my knee starts hurting if I keep bend, then I straighten it but difficult to do, like it is frozen. When I straighten it it hurts after a while. Oh well it should get better.

God Bless to you all
