Hi everyone,
I am now 15 weeks out and doing great! Saw my OS last week and he was very pleased. I don't have to see him again until January. I have been discharged from PT, but am doing home exercises faithfully. The OS wanted my "resting" ROM at 120, I was kinda worried about that, but low and behold I pulled my leg up to 122! That is just pulling it up and "resting" it.
My ROM when I push it is 125 so I can't complain. OS did warn me that I am to keep up with my exercises at home as he has had patients who, after being discharged from therapy, did not do anything else and by the time they came back for their 6 month checkup they had lost between 15 to 20 degrees flexion! I am walking with out a limp and have so far tackled our county and state fairs with no problems. I am no longer on the narcotics, just tylenol. I cannot thank all of you enough for the great support you all gave me! You guys are the greatest and your encouragement and knowledge got me through alot! Jo, thanks for your words of wisdom, I was so scared before my surgery. You answered alot of questions and eased my fears. I am hoping my left knee will hold out until next summer, it is starting to bug me some, but hopefully a cortisone shot will take care of that.
My mountain trip that I have waited sooo long for is next week and I feel like I will be able to tackle all that walking. I stop and sit when I need to, no pushing the envelope for me!!! I wish all of you the best in your recoveries and to those who are waiting, please know that this is the BEST thing you can do for yourselves! Not to have the arthritic pain anymore is worth more than you can imagine!!!!! I have NEVER regretted this surgery! Not even during those PT sessions! IT IS WONDERFUL TO HAVE MY LIFE BACK!!!
