Yesterday was my 3 month check up and I am feeling blue. LOL the weather here is not helping either. According to my OS I am behind in my recover. He said because I had so much damage to the muscles prior to surgery that I can't expect to bounce back on schedule. Plus the injury to the leg from the ambulance mishap didn't help. Sigh.

I am able to use the cane part time until the leg tires. The IT band is better but not really letting me walk any distance.

I am to continue with PT and the massage therapy for another 5 weeks. I told the OS I was eager to start really using my new hip. LOL

Don't be blue! This period is not a make or break time. You'll get there in the end.

I agree you did have a lot happen to you, So I can understand, dont be sad all in time. It will work out, its just never as fast as we want....But when you do walk you will be extra happy, because of all that wait....I cant wait to see that thread....You will get there............

Webbie, you have to look at this differently! You are doing exactly what your doctor and therapist are telling you to do. You had a lot of muscle decline going into your surgery. So even though it might be taking longer to get full mobility back than a "normal" person (whatever "normal" really means), you ARE on schedule - FOR YOU!! Your body is unique and it heals in the way that is best for you. Considering how many great years you will have with your new hip, an extra few weeks to get it right in recovery will be so worth it in the end. Considering where you started, I think you're doing really great! Don't let anyone rain on your parade!!!

Well, those were 3 really good pep talks from Josephine, Kim and Jamie. I am usually very positive but today just feel blue. LOL like I said it must be the weather. Rhode Island weather is the pits this year.

OK so now I have had my pity session I promise to get back to myself and keep plugging away with the therapy. Thanks for listening.

You ought to be in the UK - it has rained all day where I am so I haven't managed to get outside to walk about - had to pace up and down my hall instead. Flaming June, eh?

Chin up Webbie, we will progress at different rates dependant on what our original circumstances were. Just take it steady, don't try and push yourself and do as the Dr says - you will soon be dancing down the street.

Take care

Weather is depressing here in NJ too. Where in RI are you Kathy? My mom is in Narragansett (Saunderstown.)

Feel better soon. At over 9 months, 3 months seems so early in recovery.

Kathy
it is pretty common that the weather stinks in Little Rhody. I moved to socal from there in 1980 for grad school and neve returned. I am way overdo for a visit though.
How are you feeling today? I hope over the blues. I have been there in your place so often in the last 2 years. Your hip will get better. Actually it is all the muscles, ligaments and other (if there is any ) soft tissue that needs to get better. Just needs a little more time.
