Well thanks to you guys I made it thru. My surgery went well and I actually have not had much pain at all. I was up walking within 6 hours after my surgery with a walker and I did well in the hospitsl. Coming home has been rough for me. I guess now that the meds have worn off and my body is telling me that it is tired that I realize that YES I have had major surgery! My worst problem is getting comfortable. Its not so much the pain but the not being able to relax part and I fell like stuff is pullin in there. I am very sleep deprived, but it ha only been three days and I am moving aroung well so i guess that is ok. it is just hard to see that I will be back to normal, I guess I kinda feel that i will be thus way forever. Thanks for everything and I will keep everyone posted as I heal.
Angie

Angie.... Welcome home! It really DOES get better! :)

Angie.....so glad to hear that things went so well with you. It's quite common to feel a little depressed early in the recovery process. But you will improve with each day....HONEST!! Try to think about what you can do today that you couldn't do a couple of days ago. I used to make a written list of milestones accomplished each weekend with my knee. It helped get through the rough spots to look back and see all the real progess I had made.

Hang in there, hon!!!

Welcome home, Angie! Everything you're feeling IS normal for 3 days post-op . . . and YES, it will get better, hour by hour, day by day. Getting comfortable can be a bit tricky, but eventually you'll figure out what feels best--use lots of pillows!

It's been 5 months for me, but I vividly remember feeling that my leg weighed at least a 1000 pounds and that trying to shift position at night was a major chore. Just be sure to keep up with your pain medication on a regular schedule, because that is key to being able to feel like doing anything else!

Promise that in a few weeks, you'll re-read your old posts and ask, was that really me?

It won't feel like it for a lweek or so, but things WILL get much better, a little bit at a time.

Pillows, pain meds, I used a Lazy-Boy recliner to help give me more sleeping options than the bed, ice after exercise, more pain meds, eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water, Vitamin C, and naps. Pretty soon you will be ready for a little walk outside, then down the street, and a few weeks later, around the block.

That pulling feeling - it's horrid, isn't it? I feel like I have had a slab of wood inserted in the side of my knee or something and it hurts! But regular, on-the-dot pain meds help a lot, and some activity. Worst thing is to let it get stiff and to start getting anxious about it. It's normal! And it will fade over the next few weeks. But I bet you an apple and an orange that yours will fade away before mine!

So if you equate the pulling with healing, then you'll
Feel better! Put yourself in a positive mindset! It works
Wonders for me!!!! Good luck! :)
