Hi all,
Went back and saw my OS again today, having first seen him post-surgery on 09/02/08. (My surgery was 08/22/08 for RTKR.) He was so horrible that day that I really had HUGE anxiety about going to see him again.
I had PT before I saw the OS, and my extension got to 7 degrees today, and my flexion is at 90, FINALLY. It took some tears to get to that 90, but I got it!
My PT told me it was okay to move from both crutches to just one, and we'll probably not need a cane at all.
I take two Percoset tablets 30 minutes prior to my appointment on the days that I have PT, but other than that, am mainly on ibuprofen 800 mg three times daily, plus occasional Vicodin (usually late at night).
The OS was MUCH better today, was very happy with my progress and much more encouraging today. I don't know what was stuck in his craw last time, but whatever it was, he worked it out.
I sure wish I could get on my bike, but still cannot get all the way around on the pedals just yet. *sigh*
Sleep has been the elusive thing, finally called my family doctor and asked if it was okay to take Benadryl with the pain meds at night, and he said it was just fine to do. So, finally getting some SLEEP! Sleep does wonders for one's attitude and stamina, I'm telling you!
I'm finally starting to feel like maybe this wasn't such a bad thing after all, but up until now was GREATLY regretting the decision to have the RTKR.
So, like everyone says, "just hang in there, it does get better."
