At 8 weeks I began working with a gait and posture group with PT experience as well as fitness and they slowly got me back to a high level of glute and hamstring strength in preparation for
I'm interested in that. Were they a type of fitness training? Could you tell a little bit more about what you did there? Sounds like it did the trick.

@Calgal I’m in Maine and go to a place that does a variety of things but they are certified by an institute:

“Our Fitness Rehab Specialists employ techniques taught by the Postural Restoration Institute. The Postural Restoration Institute® (PRI) was established to explore and explain the science of postural adaptations, asymmetrical patterns and the influence of polyarticular chains of muscles”

I don’t know where you live but you could research if there are certified PRI specialists in your area. For me it’s been powerful stuff. I saw them pre-surgery, which allowed me to understand how to walk correctly even though my hardware made it hard, and post- to help integrate my new hip with the rest of my body. Good luck! My view: if you remain an active participant in your recovery, i.e., surgery was just a stage in the longer process of being healthy and fit and not the end of the process, you’ll succeed.

@Wonderwine
My 2nd hip is tomorrow. Trying to keep hopes high but expectations low. First hip is healed fairly well but now has to be the "good hip". We'll see how that goes.
One of the things I did today was visit our travel agent to plan for a trip to Italy in april 2020. I have a 20 month old grandaughter and I'd love to be more active with her. Eyes on the prize(s)!!!
The first 2 weeks are a bite for sure. But whatever it takes. Love my new right hip.
Continued good recovery to you!
@ahipgma I’m so excited for you! You’re going to do great and your first hip is going to be happier to have a companion that can keep up with it! I’ll be thinking about you today, be well!

I agree. Love this...and will be stealing it (hope that's okay with you)
Onward and upward @Wonderwine

One of the harder things for me in recovery is dealing with frustration. I’m a do-a-lot kind of person, and now I can’t do a lot. Firing up the air compressor and checking the tire pressure in the cars; a struggle. Really? Picking beans from the garden? Can do, but it isn’t easy and it wipes me out. That inability to just do normal things easily is frustrating. Patience with the process is really hard. I do know it will work out. Patience, young man......

 Hello and Happy Saturday!
That's right...patience. It's not even a month since you were last sliced, sawed upon, drilled, hammered and stitched back up. Energy Drain is real. Go with it. If you're tired, rest / sleep. Your body is using energy first to heal the two controlled traumas it endured, not leaving a lot of energy for anything else. Help the process along, show yourself some TLC. You deserve it, you've been through a lot over the past four months.
Enjoy the evening and have a great Sunday! :)

Thanks @Wonderwine ! PRI is now in the UK, but in Leeds or London. Unfortunately I'm in the middle! But will continue to look for more therapists nearer to me. Sounds like good philosophy and I'll continue to keep an eye out for it. Cheers! :thumb:

Seven weeks out now and my one thought about recovering from my second hip replacement in 4 months is that this time around I didn’t worry so much, didn’t work so much, and just let time take care of me. And you know what? I recovered just as fast, with exactly the same amount of daily and weekly progress as I did when I fretted over every ache and pain and tried hard to “get better”. There are milestones in this recovery but I can say from experience they are related to time, not effort. I mean, don’t be a lazy slug, but don’t sweat it. Your body will simply get better every day and every week. Cheers.

That's the best, and least stressful way.

may be my last post for a while, but I'll stay in touch. Two good hips is a life-changer. Its not perfect yet, but man o man, it is pretty damn good. To all those struggling with soreness and stiffness in muscles and tendons know this: it will pass. Do not overthink this process. It WILL be great. In a bit of time.
Thank you to everyone, big love to you all who have supported me indirectly and directly and taught me good lessons. You ALL know who you are. Peace.
