Had a total ankle replacement done January of 2017. It took a full year before I was satisfied I made the right decision. Ankle was severely arthritic with an unusually high arch. Lower leg cast for a couple months requiring crutches/scooter. Then a couple more months with a boot. Some pain and discomfort was felt for almost 9 months. Bare heel is sensitive on now on hard floor. Strangely enough some sensation of nephropathy elsewhere on foot. Had shoulder replacement the prior year - a much quicker recovery.

Bottom line is I can do my 2 mile walk now pretty much pain free - not so before. I would recommend it if you can stand a long recovery process.
