Hi, I'm new here and I have some questions about my hip replacement. My surgery was Oct. 30th 2008. I have a divot where the top of the scar starts and a lot of pain in that area. I also have groan pain and tightness when I walk and low back pain. My psoas muscle is tight and my SI joint is rotated with the right going forward ( my hip replacement is on my right side). I was injured in a MVA 5 and half years ago and this is the third surgery for this hip. The first was to repair a torn labrum and the second was a bone decompression to try to slow down the avascular necrosis that had devoloped. I know this is a lot of information, but I'm very frustrated and tired of being in pain. My surgeon is not helpful. Has anyone dealt with this?? Thanks

Hi ptech - I moved your post so you don't derail the scar pictures thread and so you get answers of your own. You had my pm?

Petch,
First welcome. Sorrry you are having so much pain. I think if I were you, i would be getting a second opinion for sure. My right hip replacement took care of my hip pain. I do have many spine problems and am facing surgery again soon, but I can separate the two areas now.
Have you been in physical therapy?

Petch -

I think Judy is right - you need a second opinion. My scar is a bit concave and I do have tightness also but I am not in any pain. Good luck and don't procrastinate!

Wow Petch sorry you are in so much pain. I am a knee but
I would get a second opinion if I where you. Sounds like
you might need some PT or something.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the response!!! I did get your rely Josephine, thanks. I responded, but I'm not sure were I sent it:). Still figuring this out. I am in PT and have been for awhile. My PT is almost as frustrated as I am and he is the one who recommended a second opionion. I am in the process of researching surgeons in the Seattle area. I am wondering if there is some nerve involvement, because when I sit for awhile and get up my leg feels weak and tingling. I am going to my Dr. on Weds. and asking if he will prescribe an MRI so we can see if there is any soft tissue damage.
