Hi everyone,
my other thread got closed, so here I am agian. I am now thru the physical and all tests. Surgery is October 21. I have been working hard on wearing out the poor old hip, went on a trip to Colorado, hiking, biking, horse back riding (the horse really did it!). So now I am ready, this still doesn't seem real. I am not thinking about the "being awake" part. I think I am underestimating the pain, because that does not worry me. I am mostly worried about the 8 weeks of strict restrictions, and how my 19 month old daughter will adapt to that.

One day at a time I guess.

LTHR, Oct 21.

Those 11 days will go by fast Lidia. I was not worried at all either, just seemed unreal. It still seems strange now that I have a prosthetic hip as I sure can't tell!!

I was concerned about the restrictions, more thinking I would do something I was not allowed to do. It seemed my body just could not do the restricted movement yet anyway. In other words I could not accidentally disobey.
I hope your sweet baby catches on soon!!

The period of restrictions goes by pretty fast. Don't fret too much about the pain either as in the bigger picture there will be less pain in your life so that is why we do this.

Good luck.

Good Luck Lidia with your surgery.

Remember the positives definatley outweigh the negatives.

My little boy was 13 months when I had the first one done and 15 months for the second one. Your little girl will manage just fine, the hardest part for you is that you can't explain what is going to happen.

Apparently my boy walked around home looking for me for a day or two the first time but was fine second time around. The great thing about an anterior incision is that you can sit and they can scramble into your lap. He is particularly cuddly now that I am home but is more willing to go to his sister or Dad for things rather than just me all the time.

Just make sure you have help nappy changing etc. They are wiggly at that age!

Thanks Josephine for reopening.

And big thanks to everyone for your kind words of encouragement. I am actually hoping the 11 days will go by fast. Hoping to go for a last sail of the season tomorrow. After that, we have to wait till next summer anyways, so I'm not missing anything.

Yes, as far as the little one, I hope she can scramble onto my lap and we can read books, she loves that. I will have full time nanny and hubby will adjust work hours to help me get "ready" in the morning (out of bed :) and then come home earlier to spend afernoon with us. The plan is somewhat in place and lots of volunteers to come visit, bring a good book and prepare a meal. Thank God for those people.

I will keep you all posted - THANKS for caring, you people are amazing...
