Well I go back to work next Tuesday, have mixed feelings but i am so bored it will be a good thing. I am still stiff when I sit to long or first get up in the morning but not to bad, I can walk and that is a so great as I was in such pain before surgery. I have back problems and can only walk like 15 minutes and sit and then walk some more. I don't feel like I will ever be very active, but I was not before surgery lol I am 60 years old and have spinal stenois but suddenly want to climb a tree or get active but pain and my son won't let me lol I am grateful to walk without pain in my knees and be able to shop and piddle around. my knee is right where it should be and Dr. is pleased with my progress told me to get out of his office he had sick people to attend to and lots of high fives all around. So to all who are having a hard time it will get better and you will be so glad you had it done, thank you for all the support I have been given it helps so much. Lyn

Congratulations, Lyn. So pleased to hear of your success as it gives me hope! I am 8 weeks PO yesterday. I return to work part time next Tuesday - just 4 hours a day and from home so the 4 hours don't have to be all at one time. I'm scared but excited, too. I still have to take pain meds sometimes in the daytime, so hope they don't affect my performance. I will be wishing you all the best and know you will be fine. Thanks again for sharing your great news with us and giving us hope!

God bless,
Skeet

I'm 5 weeks out and I started back to work (half days)yesterday. Just got home for the day and I have to admit, I'm worn out. I have a problem with the swelling and aching at work...it's hard to do "detailed" accounting and have a good chance to keep your leg elevated. I'm getting through it, though. I have very compassionate co-workers. I can't work while "medicated" so I have to wait until I get home....just took my meds....but had to check in on my peeps! I think my biggest "wow" moment has been the fact that my energy level is sooooooo low. I know, I know, my body's using my energy for healing AND maybe I'm rushing the work thing....but it's hard when you know you're needed and the work is piling up.

Good luck to you all.....let me know if your energy level is also low. I'm 51...had TKR on Jan. 7th...

I'm so lucky to have you guys.....you've gotten me through my "roid" episode and every other episode.....yipppeeeee, meds kicking in.....

later..

Hi, Pattipoo. Yes, my energy level is incredibly low. I am 55 and had only my left knee done. I am usually high energy always moving, etc. Right now, I struggle to find the remote to change stations! Really, I am exhausted after even the smallest amount of work. I dealt with my daughter having all her wisdom teeth extracted Friday morning, didn't sleep well Friday night (She moved into our room to be near Mommy - she's 21!). Then Saturday I cleaned our bathroom and straightened up the bedroom. That was it. I was beat. Had to take more pain meds than usual, and missed church because I simply couldn't even get a shower. I am 8 weeks PO, so, yes, I share in the lack of energy. But I think we have to get up and do something every hour or so to build it back up. I'm seeing an increased level of energy (couldn't have dont the bathroom, etc. two weeks ago). I just need to learn how to ration it better. You are not alone!!

God bless,
Skeet

I'm so glad I read your various posts. I've been doing great on the stationary bike. Yesterday I did an a.m and p.m workout on it. I could see a noticeable improvement.
I thought I would take it easy today. Bad weather ,so I went to a mall and decided to just walk around. As I always have to compete with myself, I set my stopwatch. At 10 minutes I thought I was going to die. I had to struggle to get to my truck and get home. By the time I got inside I was shaking like a leaf. I have had to sit with ice for most of the day. And yes, pop pills.
Oh well ,tomorrow is another day.

I feel your pain.....I got to the back of the grocery store and asked my husband HOW I was going to make it back to the front! I finally made it.....shaking like a leaf....went straight home....took meds. End of Story.

Lyn,
I am about one week ahead of you, and I also have lower back issues. I have arthritis, and a reoccurring injury from about 15 years ago! It is extremely difficult to stand up when I first get out of bed, but after that I do not have a problem. But the good thing is it is only the back now, where as before with both knees gone I would rather have stayed in bed forever!I still have some stiffness over the kneecap area, but that is all now. I still do not have a suitable ROM. I keep working on it though!
