It is hard to believe but today is the 1 year anniversary of my LTKR and the 16 month anniversary of my RTKR. What a difference time makes in the recovery process! I have no pain and am able to do everything I want. Used to be I would put off doing little jobs because of the pain. No excuses now! For all of you who are just starting out on this journey rest assured that it does get better. This forum has been a great help to me and it sounds like it is going to be even more busy in the future. A lot has happened since I last checked in. Congratulations on your appointment Jamie! Hope you have a speedy recovery Josephine.
Best wishes to all.
Cheers, Ross (AKA Sporthog)

Sporthog!! It's SO good to hear from you and know that you are getting along so well. Where does the time go! I'm sure I shall be saying that again in March 2010!

That's such a great testimonial , Ross!! Congratulations to you and your new knees!!!! :)

Ross, So good to hear from you and to know you are doing so well. The newbies and those who are having a bit of a hard time need to hear from people like you who have been there and now have their lives back. I am so happy for you. Rowdy

Ross....it IS great to hear from you!!! And things are going well for you. What a wonderful report. Your post is an excellent one and I'm sure your words will soothe those out there who might be having a bad time of it or worried about a surgery to come. Please post when you can! We miss hearing from you!

And thanks for the congratulations!

It's so good to hear from people like you about getting lives back and doing what you want to do. A year seems like a long time but I guess in the life of an implant (I have heard maybe as long as 40 years now because the materials are so much better) a year isn't all that long to wait. Thanks for the post! And keep enjoying your life!!!

Great post.

Of course, the downside is my husband now expects me to help with yard-work, as my long-lived excuses are GONE :)

Ross, I am now at 4 months and my knee feels great the only problem is I can't bend it. I have my MUA tomorrow I'm hoping that this will get me where I need to be. I can do most of what I need to to function but I need more ROM my OS hopes to get me at least another 30 degrees. Before he does the MUA he is going in with the scope to clean up and remove the adhesions and he is going to do a lateral release.

have you had any riding weather yet?

Mike

Thanks to all of you for your replies. Before I had my surgeries, I told my surgeon I wanted to be able to do 2 things. 1) I wanted to be able to race my grandaughters up the hill at the cottage. 2) I wanted to be able to get in and out of my small aluminum fishing boat. Sure enough, I will be able to do both this summer. My wife has observed that I am much more responsive in doing things around the house. She also used to feel my pain when I was going up and down stairs. Now, stairs are no problem at all. For those of you concerned about scars, they do fade in time. I had previously posted a picture of my scars on the pictures thread. I should post an after picture as well!

Thanks Jo, Judles, Rowdy & Jamie!

40 years sounds good to me backbay38.

Enjoy the yard work Gretchendz!!

When is your surgery Jayne? You won't regret it!!!

All the best on your MUA Mike. It will make a difference for sure. My OS did a MUA on my right knee at the same time as he did the LTKR. I have not had the bike out yet but will likely do so in the next week or so.

Cheers to all, Ross

Hey Ross, great to hear from you..Catch a big'un from your boat for me!!!
Cheers, Doug.

Ross, what a sunny post! It was so wonderful to hear how things are going with you. I know your life is back to normal now, but I hope you check in here at least once in a while to share a story or two.

Good to hear from you Doug!
I sure will catch a big one for you! We are on a large lake which is mostly Crown Land and the lake has excellent Walleye (Pickerel) fishing. Maybe I can find a few fish recipes to post. How is the Lacrosse coming along? We were in Florida for a few weeks in Feb and really enjoyed it (near Largo). We wanted to see a shuttle launch but they postponed it. Maybe next time!

Jamie, fortunately things are getting sunnier here (up to 18 degrees C today). Summers are too short in Canada.

Ross,
The high school Lacrosse season ended last week...I for one was ready for it to end..I have driven hundreds of miles to watch their games..Lacrosse is very popular in northeast Fla. particularly among private schools..Our boys had a horrible season but then it is only the second season for the sport at my sons school...Even though the season is over, he is already in training for next season..He is intent on knocking somebody's helmet off.

Largo is a very nice area. Fantastic fishing.

I can't identify with the fishing, Ross but getting in and out of the boat -- that's a biggie!!! And racing your grandkids up the hill!!! I am so glad you will be able to do both and I am sure -- from my own short experience -- you will be grinning from ear to ear for days after!!!
