Hi, I am new on the block. Looking for answers, etc. I went into surgery strong, healthy, 53, thought would be a cinch...wrong. After reading others comments tho, patience will win out, and be thankful I am at 110-120 depending on how many tears I shed at PT. I have strong scar tissue from past arthritis to break as of yet. Pt mentioned manipulation last session, when I almost "P'd " my pants (good advice to arrive at PT with empty bladder). I have been reading about that, and thinking I just should just keep plugging thru the pain with the therapist. Only have 7 sessions left on insurance tho. I am keeping the faith!!!

Welcome to the forum, MarionSt.!! You will find lots of support here from folks who are going through exactly what you are facing. Don't hesitate to post if you have questions or concerns or.....if you just want to report a milestone reached! It sounds like you are doing just fine for 10 weeks out.

Welcome Marion St. I am a hippy with knee problems. I am 51 and know just what you mean about going into a procedure in good shape and thinking it will be somewhat of a breeze.
You are doing fine it seems and will be just a great story soon enough!!

Don,t worry about the manipulation. I too shed many a tear and spewed many a foul word as we were pushing from ROM at PT. I had RTK in July and had the manipulation in mid October - hurt for a day and then WOW ROM came on almost immediately. Best thing I did! I was the one who was against it. Both Os's I work with finally convinced me and I should have listened earlier! There was no other way to break up the scar tissue and the mua did it in 10 minutes! I went in at 6. Into the OR at 7 back in recovery at 7:30 and on the road home at 8:30. Slept most of the day away but could feel the improvement almost immediately!

Best of luck!
Marianne

Personally, I'd be pretty happy with 110-120. Sounds about the top of the range to me. Why are they getting you stressed out over a few points? Is there something you really want to do that you can't do?

Hi...I am 12 weeks today and I agree with Jo...don't stress the number.
I did at first but then I realized that I only had 113 ROM to begin with and my knee just does not want to go beyond 97-100 range.
This upset me at first but I realized that I can bend my knee rather well and get up and down stairs and get into a car..........so why stress over not being at 110 or whatever...
As long as you can live your life and be pain free........who cares!!!!
Enjoy your day...hugs Carol

Speaking of ROM. We are leaving for Florida on Tuesday so I decided I needed a pedicure. This is the first one I've tried since my surgery. I have always done this by putting my foot on the opposite leg, heel tucked against my abdomen--then I pull the foot over so I can really see what I'm doing. I had a struggle with my TKR knee. This pedicure business needed a great deal of flexion. I finally got it almost close enough, but I really had to get inventive with that foot. Whoever knew ROM would be important for vanity's sake? :)

Linda2,
Or this maybe a sign that you just need to pamper your self and go have a Pedicure.
I know when my daughter drug me to the day spa thing for a pedicure I thought she was crazy!!! I just did not think that I would be able to stand to have anyone touch my feet.
But boy was I wrong. Now at least once a year I have a hour long pedicure and it is heaven!!!

You know what - though I love having my feet pampered, they never deal with the hard skin and nail cutting as I like it. So now when I go, I do my feet myself beforehand!

Hi,

I am in the same boat as you. I am 52 and at 10 weeks post BTKR today.
I was reasonably fit before the operation and am finding it a bit of a struggle at the moment. I just find I am always "uncomfortable" and lack energy!

My rom is also 110 and 120
