TKR ‘Hard’ knee

I’m wondering how others are doing with ROM after about a year post TKR. And what are the chances of still improving?
My 13 month post-op knee is at almost 130. My 10 month post-op knee is somewhere between 120-125. I’m measuring myself with a goniometer and I realize that this could be way off accurate :no-fin: I still have ‘scar tissue’ or thickened areas on both knees which I am still massaging daily, although I’m not sure if it’s making a difference.
I would be interested to hear others’ experiences at this stage.

I don’t know what my numbers are now (7+ years later) but after a tough first year with ROM, I had a lot of improvement all through my second year, as my whole leg continued to relax and heal.

I’m so glad to hear that. It’s good to know what others experience as it puts things into perspective, even though we all heal differently.

:thankyou:

I gained range of motion steadily up to10-12 months post-op, then more over the next TWO years. It was a little bit each year, but considering where I started, it was definitely helpful.

I'm at 16 months and 21 months...
I have no idea my flexion beyond "functional and does what I want it to."
The older one has no complaints as long as I don't outwardly rotate both the knee and the hip. Medial pain results. Fortunately it's not something that comes up in daily life that often.
The younger one has scar tissue affecting the lateral quads and probably ITB at the low thigh. It doesn't at all impinge my ROM but causes discomfort if I sit too long.
My weight training on the machines seems to be loosening it up.

I definitely gained a few degrees in my second year. I found gentle stretches after some strengthening pilates helped loosen things up.
