George and Devil Dog.
You will both be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Show up and do what they say. Only advise I can give. I don't think anything can be said to reroute the anxiety your both feeling. I had my left hip replaced a year ago in May. First few days will be rough, but you will...
Bob-
We'll be thinking bout you on Tuesday. Stay busy don't be too nervous, get it done. It will be the best thing that you have done for yourself. Short term goals:
1. Tuesday 0530, show up.
2. Next 3 days, pain meds AND stool softeners.
Take care, - Gary

I have to agree with rejoyce318. Do some research on Doctors in your area qualified in the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing method. It is a total hip replacement. They conserve bone during the replacement. You are too young not to have one. My first medical opinion I was given two options...
Jo- Total recall... Unless I forget of course. I think I read somewhere on a thread that today marks fifty years for you. I want to extend my sincere congratulations and personal heartfelt "Thank You" for all you do. I will post this on the Hippy Side in a minute.
-Gary.

Welcome. Road to recovery is going to be interesting as well as challenging. Your going to find a terrific collection of people who will relate their experiences to you. Yes, we were all scarred. But the healing pain after replacements are short lived compared to the never ending day to...

Your the front runner. I too am really having teeth problems. Using lots of Oral Jul and partial pain med left overs for the last couple of days. Couple of days shy of 17 weeks post THR. The ringer is that I am still on Coumadin. Not sure where or what to do.

Sandy-
Hang in there. You will get through this. That probably doesn't comfort you now, but it will get easier. My coumadin "voltage" was increased a couple days ago because my blood was still too thick. I also asked my doc a really stupid question at that time. (I didn't think it was stupid...

Welcome. Lots of good information in the above link. I would like to highlight that you must feel comfortable with your Orthopedic Surgeon. Second, do not be afraid to ask "stupid" questions. (there are none) Someone has been down that road before. Again, Welcome.
-Gary.
I really have a healthy respect for my Doc. He told me yesterday that if the ultra sound turned negative he wanted a MRI. The down side was that if it was positive I would be in the vascular guys care.
I remember being wheeled into the operating room, scooted from the gurney to the table and picked my head up and thanked everyone in advance ".. in case I forgot later..." that is the last conversation I remember till about 3 or 4 hours later. Better living through chemistry. Can I get an Amen...

Let your OS make the call on going to school. If you do wear slippers or Velcro shoes till you can tie them yourself. Even at 14 weeks I still have good days and bad days on tying BOTH shoes. My only advice is heal first then do sports. I have watched my own babies play school...

Yes this is one incredible site. What is it like in New Zealand having a THR? Crutches, walker? Pain meds? Curious/nosey. Welcome aboard. (14 weeks since my THR) -Gary.
