TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

The kneecap mobilization seemed to help with "that tugging feeling" I have complained about. I still have a tiny bit of it, but it's much better. I've almost completed my outpatient PT , I recommend it for those who have insurance coverage, it's that extra boost. My knee is doing very well...

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

@Josephine moving & massaging t,he knee cap actually made me feel better, boy was I surprised! I have continued PT, exercises at home, more time ice/elevation, and the sore/stiff spot has improved this week. I actually am beginning to think maybe it will all go away after swelling is gone...

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

I wouldn't think it would feel very good to have PT manipulating my still tender incision area in order to move Patella!

Thank you! WHY does the PT want to move the patella?

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

Not always, but will. At outpatient PT (1 day) It was probably about 7 minutes On tiptoes, and heels Forgot meaning, but it's the machine with little electrical currents, feels like worms moving ;)

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

It is obviously a SNUG type feeling, when forcing the knee to bend correctly/normal gait..it feels awful & like it's tearing. Thank you! Normal rest, inactivity, no pain or minimal 1-2 discomfort. Only Flexerill for the muscle cramps I was having, I take the ibuprophen/Tylenol cocktail...

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

Neither OS or PT are answering my question, I so want a reasonable explanation for!! A person knows their body, recognizes different feelings, different degrees of healing, outside in...inside out. Do any of you know, what tendon, ligament, muscle on (outside) of knee is affected by allowing...

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

Thank you @Josephine. I am using the ibuprofen/Tylenol cocktail for this stage of recovery, elevate/ice, and rest for pain and swelling. I have the normal feeling of the incision healing from inside out and the knee/patella movement rubbing against it, and feel that is normal. The OS said he...

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

Hi, it's now almost six weeks post-op, I have begun my outpatient PT, everything is going very well, except "that continuous attachment/tearing feeling," I have had since surgery. It remains on the outer side of knee (LTKR) I force myself to bend knee in order to walk with normal gait, heel...

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

:sleigh:I had my 4 week check-up and OS was very pleased with my progress and my incision healing well. My leg cannot lay straight, but it's only off like 2 or -2, ya'll will know what I'm talking about. My ROM is 105, I had hoped for 110, but I still have some swelling in the knee. I can...

TKR The Knee Team journey begins!

Now that the swelling is going down, I can see that my bursa that was there Preop is still there, evidently surgery did not take care of it, and it's to the side of it where the tight band feeling has been. Good news though, I am finally beginning to feel normal again. :dancy: I almost slept...

    TKR Cannot do stairs normally

I can master the 6 stairs into/out of house in normal manner, did that 2nd week, but I have no desire yet to attempt our 13 stairs to basement with 1 handrail, and concrete below.. Ouch!

    TKR Cannot do stairs normally

:) Oh my, it takes that long for stairs, well I don't mind, our washer & dryer is downstairs, it looks like I won't be doing laundry for 3 months.

    TKR Amackness on the mend!

Much improved, however I still use 1/2 hydro and 1/2 Tylenol when I have significant aching. Due to swelling of knee, full heel slides have been difficult to fullness, yesterday I pushed through (2sessions) as far as I could go, but paid for it last night. Weary today from lack of sleep, will...

You are doing very well! today is beginning of week 3 and I still have swelling. Ugh! You are blessed to be able to sleep in bed already, that didn't happen for me until day 17, I think. Keep up the good work!

Recovery - what is YOUR typical day like?

Thanks Josephine! I have gone for a drive with hubby a few times, to dr., but I do not walk outdoors, we have 13 inches of snow, nothing is worth the risk of falling!
