Hello Bonesmarties,
I don't come to this forum so much now - I looked forward to getting back to normal life so much, and guess what? I did! But when I needed it, the people on the forum were so kind and encouraging and really helped me through my tkr.
Today Mystikfairy61 commented on a...
Thanks for that, Josephine!
I do hope for more improvement so it's encouraging to hear that you saw it go on for so long. I always feel good when I'm striding along in the woods - it's when I'm stuck at my desk planning to stand that I'm not quite so thrilled!
But yes, overall things are...
That's an interesting question and one I have been pondering recently.
I am coming up to a year (21st. October) and am wondering how much more improvement I will see.
My leg is still a bit bent. I have quite a lot stiffness - noticeably more over the last couple of weeks as the...
Yes, thanks for the suggestion,Vicki, I do stretches and bends before I get out of bed. The stumbling isn't much of a problem; only lasts a minute or two. Overall I'm pleased with my recovery; have been going up and downstairs normally since about 3 - 4 weeks; it's all looking good. I did...
I'm just on 7 months. I'm a bit stumbly when I first get out of bed in the mornings but it soon wears off. No pain really, a little tightness still though. I haven't taken any pain meds regularly for months. I don't think about the knee much but it is stiff after sitting so I stand...
I think you are doing exactly right for now, icing and elevating, but I hope you're taking pain meds as well. Tomorrow get yourself a professional opinion as soon as you can - might be nothing to worry about, but better safe than sorry and it will stop you worrying.
Let us know how you get on!
Great to hear how well your Dave is doing and I am full of admiration for how you have coped with everything you've gone through over the last few weeks. Upward and onward, Bonnie! Spring's here and Dave will be home soon.
When my husband was coming home from hospital and couldn't do stairs...
Thinking of you both. Try and get some rest, Bonnie, you must need it so badly, I know it's hard to leave Dave but you need to sleep to be strong for him.
Maybe the hospital have somewhere you could rest to save the drive home.
Hi Srn,
Well today was the end of the second week back at work for me, and apart from the knee problems it has been great to re-join the human race! I feel much more myself.
My knee has been a bit better today; just the usual stiffness and aching - the sharp pains in hip and calf have...
Totally Miserable! Hope the drugs kick in soon. They'd better; we've got a summer sight-seeing trip to plan!
Whereabouts in West Sussex are you? I lived in Billingshurst for a few years before we moved to Boston, loved it there but it's grown a bit since then. Wonderful countryside...
back to normal!
Here's hoping for that!
I work in IT (in answer to your earlier question, srn) and this is my second week back although in a new job. Work and knee have been fine although I've had a few other problems - my son is muttering about IT bands and ominously, he speaks of a foam...
Very glad to hear that your Dave is stronger. I wish him a speedy recovery and you some peace of mind and freedom from worry.
And don't forget to eat, and try to sleep; you will need all your strength to support him as he gets better.
I had aching everywhere in the early weeks. It gradually went but took about 10-12 weeks - the ache down the shin was the last to go. I still get aching around the knee itself, especially around the kneecap, but nothing like it used to be.
I found that icing the knee helped in the early...
Mimi, you must be so happy to be able to do all that and keep up with your grand-children! How lovely for you. What a long way you've come.
All the best to your daughter and the newest grandchild!
