Hi Mary,
I really understand how you feel. I think you know I sought a second opinion and it is very different from my doctors opinion. I thought about seeing a third to break the tie and since I live in Texas I could see Sonja's doctor BUT i am sick of driving myself crazy. I can ( with a...
Hi Coachie,
I have flared up bursitis in my knee by doing the breast stroke and my pt said not to do it.
I got a small kick board to work on my kicks and I am going to buy a noodle to the the bike on. Sometimes I tread water for exercise but my pt said to be careful cause I might get the...
sounds like you are doing great! revisions are so scary but you have the first experience to compare it to. It is nice to hear how relaxed you are and how good your rom is! Congratulations on your new knee.

Mary.. funny we do need an orthopedic psychologist ! This is so hard to deal with at times!
I emailed HSS, they would be out of network for my insurance and it would be prohibitively expensive. Looking for other options.
How does one find one of the best revision docs in the country...
I understand how you feel 100%! I had my revision and thought I was free and clear but now having problems again, with catching and sometimes I feel like I have a razor blade under my knee cap. So now I have these long stems and NOW what?? I am so disappointed.
I don't know if you read my...
so very sorry you are going through this. I feel your pain. I saw a doctor who was not very happy with my knee yesterday... I am so confused... Do I want to avoid more surgery or do I want to walk without fear of my knee giving out.
I am more frustrated than you can know.
Thinking of you...
I agree with you Mary. My OS never touches me. I had a second opinion today and he bent and flexed my knee, felt my knee cap as the knee flexed. said I have patellar clunk !!! and my knee has overhang.. and that is where it is pinching me and hurts... so bummed out...
I have been trouble...
Re: MUA or Surgery??
Hi Vicki Lynn,
So sorry you are going through this. If I were you I would try and see one or two more doctors. It sounds like a difficult situation and both plans don't sound to be certain of the outcome.
I am sure you will get some good advice here.

Hi Pumpkin,
While I was waiting for my revision there was one exercise I could do that did not cause my knee to hurt more. I used a ball about the size of basket ball and just squeezed it between my thighs. I believe it helped keep my quads not lose too much muscle. I think you are a pt...
Hi Mary,
I wanted to check in with you because I remember being at the point where you are feeling pretty blue about it. I will tell you after my revision I felt a lot better and my whole recovery was much easier than the first time. I eventually got to a place where I could understand why...
Hi Limpy,
You have just started on your journey to recovery. The pain meds can cause headache and tummy problems. Please check the library for recovery information. I would say that feeling lousy is very normal at this time. Ice and elevate, do your exercises and take your meds. It will...
You are not alone. Since my TKR I have had ankle issues - ( from standing on my 'good' leg) and back issues ( have ddd and my lousy gait is flaring it up). I have been fighting to get back to normal since it all began with one wrong choice.. a crappy doctor. I can't wait to get better anymore...
Pumpkin,
Very sorry you are going through this. It is awful to feel betrayed and lied to by your first doctor. I am glad you are looking into a revision so you can finally get on the road to healing.

Re: TRKR & TRKRR 1 year later. Problems!
Bionicman, I am so sorry you are going through this. I really hope you don't have RSD and maybe the MUA was just too much on the knee too soon.. your poor knee has been through a lot. You said your ROM decreased after the MUA but I did not see the...
Hi Mary,
I was just catching up on your thread. Wow, what a horrible time you have had. I understand your grief for tkr not turning out well. I guess we are the 10% that have problems and I think the emotional pain of a failed knee replacement is very devastating. When I realized my knee...
the last straw for me was a year of sitting on the couch because I could no longer go for walks, my knee was constantly hurting and swollen. However I ended up being on of the 10% with complications and it seems I just traded one kind of pain for another kind of pain. I am still hoping one day...
Hi Nancy,
So sorry you are going through this. For me there was a component of psychological devastation, I was just shocked and I felt like a failure. I think it is normal to be very upset about this but the good part is now you know there is a problem and you are going to have it fixed...
Hi Bonesmarties,
I have been reading this thread with interest. I too am an 'endorphin' junkie and that is partly why I needed my knee replaced.. arthritis and multiple sports injuries.
I understand why many feel they should enjoy their new knee to the fullest and have fun now but in my...
Hi Sandy,
I am so glad you had your revision! Your story is similar to mine and what struck me reading your latest posts that I bet you would have never been so ambitious at 3 weeks post op ( to invite friends over and do stairs) after your first surgery. Do you know what I mean? Even...
I am so happy for you Sandy!!! You sound wonderful!!! This recovery is going to be awesome because you will actually RECOVER! Your Flex and Ext numbers are great!!!! :hysterical:
I am just thrilled you are on your way! It makes me mad that you were treated poorly before and then same thing...
