:) Well I suppose someone has to be. On Mallorca right now, fairly easy 50 miles today. Knees no problem whatsoever.

TKR Trying to stay positive so frustrated

I agree with Layla. It's far too early to judge the quality of your recovery. PT will not speed recovery. It's just to keep the joint mobile, very little is needed

    TKR Stiff and swollen knee

That will change. As everyone has said, take it easy. The BoneSmart view on key to recovery is time, not exercises. And no pain, MORE gain. Your soft tissue is damaged and will be helped by rest and gentle stretching exercises. Nothing that hurts.

MUA Excessive Knee Stiffness post TKR

It sounds like what you have is just soft tissue problems. If so, they are soluble with stretching. There is no such thing as permanent loss of ROM under these conditions. So this means your body has adapted to poor extension; more stretching will be needed that if you'd had good extension...

    TKR Strange Sensation

Welcome to BoneSmart There are any number of weird things people have reported, but this is a new one on me. I'd not worry about it at this early stage of recovery, so much has changed and your body has to get used to it. Knee Recovery: The Guidelines We are all different, as are the...

    TKR Incredibly discouraged.

You are not doing anything wrong. Big damage was done to your body, it's recovering. It takes away your energy when doing so. This is the sentence I invented to describe a situation like yours. It's not even really a joke... "When you are icing and elevating and watching telly you are not...

    TKR Incredibly discouraged.

First: you're early in recovery on your 2nd knee, not fully done on your first. Healing takes energy, as much energy as it can. This could easily explain lack of motivation Second: I retired at 59 - well, sacked from Royal Bank of Scotland (I'm 72 now). I know that lost feeling so well, the...

Bilateral TKR Bilateral TKR vs staged

Not impossible. I went up 2 flights (one storey) each evening, down again the next day. Lived on the ground (1st in American) floor during the day. Had a bathroom on that level (essential, IMO). Took me a long time climbing and descending, much hanging onto bannisters. But worth it to be...

Bilateral TKR Bilateral TKR vs staged

One surgery, one recovery. No danger of the effect of the first one causing me to chicken out the second - a real possibility with me. It was a big deal for me that once I was knocked out then I would wake and start my recovery on the first day. My surgeon said I'd be OK with bilateral in...

    TKR Frustrated and defeated

I think so. March 4th is just a few days ago. MUA is like resetting your recovery to zero, you shouldn't expect immediate improvement. The BoneSmart view is that you need to do gentle stretching (see guidelines above) and let time take its course. Healing will happen slowly and surely. No...
