PKR Post op day 2 partial knee

@hikertina When I had my first PKR on my right knee, it took approximately 6-8 weeks before I had a good night sleep. I would suspect that it will be the same with my left PKR, so I got about 2 more weeks of sleepless night, and that goes by in a blink. :)

PKR Post op day 2 partial knee

@hikertina Hello, It is very encouraging to know that your recovery is quick and successful. Had a similar experience except that I had 2 bad knees, and as with you, I was compensating and trying alternate ways to relief the pain for years before deciding on having PKR. Obviously it got to...

PKR Had my second PKR on my left knee.

HI All, Has been a while, and hope everyone is recovering successfully. On June 8 2022 I had my first PKR done on my right knee. Recovery was/is slow, and still recovering, but can function pretty good. Just had my second PKR on October 5 2022 (about 3 1/2 weeks ago), and as the first PKR...

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. The only difference is that my extensiion problem existed before my right PKR, but worked on it on and off and not enough. I agree with you partially, and doing what you suggested, thank you, but at the same time I have to really work on those tendons that are...

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

Hello all, I kind of agree and disagree with the BoneSmart approach on recovery. Talking for myself, I was a spinner, religiously going to spin classes for about 30+ years (almost from the day Spinning started ~1990), I have been a spinning instructor until I was 68 years old (stopped whe the...

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

@Jockette @sistersinhim yes, my PKR in October will also be medial PKR. Trying very hard to get that right PKR knee as strong as I can before the anticipated left PKR in October. Also strengthening the left leg which hopefully will help with recovery after the operation.

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

Hello everyone, just an update. As of now, my PKR right knee is still stiff , pain level swings anywhere between 2 and 6 depending on the activity done. Have PT religiously 3 times a week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The PT for me is very essential since I could not straighten my leg...

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

@FLX4 Almost 8 weeks since my RPKR, an update. This past weekend I have been dancing a lot, Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. Didn't overdo it, 5-10 minutes at a time, between the Salsa, Merengue, and swing it was good aerobics, and it felt great. Stopped when I started feeling a bit...

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

@FLX4 Today I was a bad boy. Decided to go to a Cuban restaurant night club that we usually frequent and just could not help it. The beat went right to my soul and started dancing salsa, merengue, bachata, etc. , It fell really good, and did not fee[ uncomfortable and when I got home I...

    PKR PKR today!

@FLX4 Hi, As you know I had right knee PKR on June 8, so our recovery timeline should be very similar. Seems like your recovery is going pretty well, excellent. Bend is around 127, but ROM is a problem at -7. Had ROM problem before the PKR, at 3 weeks after the surgery I was at -20, that's...

@fedex927 Hi fedex927, I am 71 years old, had my PKR on my right knee on June 8, 2022 about 7 weeks ago. Knee flexibility is around 125, but ROM still at -7. My ROM was severe way before the PKR, did a lot of biking, spinning, etc.. but never stretched enough. At 3 weeks after my PKR my...

Revised PKR to TKR Nine months recovery

@Mavric However, I did not try cryotherapy after my PKR. Being and engineer and having a limited understanding about materials, I think that doing cryotherapy after a knee replacement will be devastating since the most materials will contract (shrink) under cold environment, and since we are...

Revised PKR to TKR Nine months recovery

@Mavric Hi Mavric, I am way behind as far as your threads are, but your questions about cryotherapy got my attention. I had cryotherapy about 10 months prior to my PKR thinking it will have some effect on my pain on both knees where I was bone on bone. As said in my threads, I tried almost...

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

Hi @FLX4, Thanks for your words of encouragement. Yes, it is getting better every day. This morning was the first time I added some resistance to my spinning bike to start strengthening my knees, quads and hamstrings. I am doing the same PT on my non operated leg to prep it for my upcoming...

Hello all, Just a little update on my recovery. First, I haven't skip on any of my PT scheduled sessions and since I am having PT usually on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Friday, but have done my own PT based on the formal PT exercises, so nonskipping a day including weekends. I have a condition...

@CaFireman Hello CaFireman, I am a 71 year old very active individual until my knees started to bother me and could not perform any sports activities without constant pain, and got to the point where enough was enough and decided on PKR. I was a spinning instructor until I was 68 years old...

@FLX4 Hi FLX4, Wonderful, seems that your recovery is going as planned. Yes, I have the same type of pain around my knee, sometime better, and sometime worse, I guess this is part of the healing process. For about a couple of weeks about 2 weeks ago I started taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol...

    PKR Red/warm skin round wound

Hi Devlin, not sure if this will comfort you or not. I had my right knee PKR on June 8th 2022, a bit less than 4 weeks. my pain is down by 70-80%, and from the way it is healing, I feel that I should be pain free in a couple of month or so (hopefully). From day one I have been gently working...

PKR Had my PKR on June 8th, 2022

@ski_bum Hello ski_bum, Thanks for your concerns about driving. I am not taking any drugs, just about 800mg of ibuprofen early in the morning to help with inflammation and make it easier when doing some PT. I never resorted to the prescribed hard pain killers and never picked them up at...
