TKR Recovering from TKR May 3

Yeah. I'm feeling mostly better now. I can yawn and breathe deeply. Not being able to breathe just kind of freaked me out because it has happened before with anesthesia (pseudocholinesterase deficiency).

TKR Recovering from TKR May 3

Thanks, good idea. From the generalities they are giving me, I suspect they are liability shy and I don't want to spook them further. (No liability because there are no damages, and anyway I'm not litigious, just curious and a little concerned.)

TKR Recovering from TKR May 3

I did have general anesthesia, and I was told that the lining was more inflamed than they expected. So maybe they needed a bit more anesthesia, if I was under longer. I'm having some trouble getting much detail from anyone--they just say everything was fine. I mean, I'm glad it was fine but...

TKR Recovering from TKR May 3

Just got home yesterday. Surgery went fine although evidently there was more inflammation in the lining than they expected. (And I thought this was my good knee...) In the recovery room, I suddenly couldn't get enough air. I was gasping for about an hour while they tried to resolve it. Since...

Bilateral TKR Glacier99’s Pre Op Journey.

Having my second TKR (left knee) on May 3. Not looking forward to it. Looking forward to it being over. I live alone and am fairly isolated, and so far, I have found little home support for after the first four weeks when my kids will be here. I've tried local senior care (understaffed because...

Persistent bursitis--to TKR or not to TKR?

Interesting, I hadn't thought of that. I'm sure my gait is a mess, though. I hope you are right!

Persistent bursitis--to TKR or not to TKR?

I posted here a while back. My second TKR (left) is scheduled for May 3. However, I have had bursitis in my right knee since last fall. It prevents me from doing any exercise--even recumbent bicycling on the lowest setting causes pain. When I'm resting, there isn't any or much pain, but the...

    TKR Problems after TKR

Thanks, both of you. I'm sure EDS is involved. I don't have an EDS-specific physician and don't know how to find one. Searches just turn up general rheumatologists. I live near Boston, so there should be someone. My surgeon does know I have EDS. I also think that the shifted kneecap is probably...

    TKR Problems after TKR

Posting this here again to make sure it's seen. My physical therapist says, about the clunking, "You have anterior laxity of your knee causing a clunk with an anterior shift or anterior drawer test. It allows your tibia to translate too far anteriorly creating an instability and a clunk."

    TKR Shin pain following TKR

I'm just a fellow TKRer, not a professional. But I can say that for me, PT or any kind of exercise always brought on a lot of pain later on. I could count on it every time. And 4-5 weeks is still pretty early. I remember thinking something was wrong at that point because I was still having so...

    TKR Problems after TKR

Oh, got it. My physical therapist measures me that way. It's the one thing I excel at--bending! (Because of EDS.) I have no idea what kind of joint my orthopedist used, will have to ask. The problem with my ligaments (and tendons, and other stuff) is that they are just way too lax and stretchy...

    TKR Problems after TKR

Oh, I see. Last year's surgery (right knee) was June 1. This year's surgery (left knee) is May 3. The current problems are with the right knee. Vocab, as my son would say--no idea what a hinged knee is, or ROM. Computers? Oh, that's RAM. I am dummy.

    TKR Problems after TKR

Thank you. My surgery date for the second TKR--unless another procedure on the first leg interferes--is May 3. I know some noise is normal. I should have added that the reason for my physical therapist's concern about this noise is that she was testing my knee, having me move it with her hands...

    TKR Problems after TKR

Thank you! I sort of figured this would have to wait for my doctor, just exploring all avenues. I'll check out those links--thanks again!

    TKR Problems after TKR

Hi, this is my first post here after occasionally lurking and being impressed. I had a TKR last June and have followed through with PT. However, a couple of things seem to be going wrong. X-ray shows that my kneecap has moved laterally. This doesn't cause any pain, but it concerns me because I...
