Here we go rambling yet again...

Jackie, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. You will be in my prayers. I can't imagine what this must be like for you and your family. Vent all you need to. Keeping it bottled won't do you any good and could compromise your immune system. No body thinks your rambling and this...

    greater trochanter fracture

Hi Everyone, I made an appointment to see me surgeon because after 4 months I was having a lot of pain that sounded (and felt) like bursitis. I saw him today and he gave me a cortizone shot. However, he did another X-Ray and noted that a fracture in the Greater Trochanter had not...

    Need to rant a bit...

I went back this week after 12 weeks off. Today was my first day in a clinic,. I was supposed to go back on tuesday but the weather didn't cooperate. I'm fortunate because when I told my direct supervisor I couldn't make it in she said "I don't want you to even try". A collegue was having her...

    Adventures in physical therapy

Hi Jennifer, I told friends last week that I will have buns of steel when I'm done with this. They may be covered under layers of fat but they will be there! Good luck with the exercises. I raised my bad leg by myself (while lying on my good side) for the first time this week. It felt like...

Pressure on operative side but laying on unoperative side

I slept on my "good" side from the beginning and felt a pulling also. I kept a pillow between my legs (still do) and that helped. Those muscles have been through a lot of trauma and it takes time for them to relax. I just had a new mattress delivered today and I can't wait to go to bed...

    life time precautions

Thanks Kay. I've already found myself bending more than 90• without or problem. I was never able to cross my leg so I didn't expect to be able to do that. Those hip and buttocks muscles do let me know they need to be built up but I trust with time and persistence they will get stronger. Thanks...

    Steroid treatment after THR

I use a nasal steroid spray and was on it before and after surgery. It keeps the polyps at bay (or at least less painful). Hipper

    life time precautions

I spoke to a friend who had her hip replaced by the same surgeon and he didn't give her life time precautions so I guess I'm special ;) Hipper Lthr 11/3/10

    walking after THR

My OS warned me that my operated leg would "feel" longer at first. He also said it would take about a year for it to feel like a complete part of me. I'm thrilled to be able to put both feet flat on the ground and for my leg to lie flat on the bed. Hipper Lthr 11/3/10

    life time precautions

Thank you. Those pictures certainly are inspiring. I've never had good rom in that hip but it got much worse over the last few years and I can already tell it is much improved. Thanks for the info. Hipper

    life time precautions

I had a LTHR on November 3rd. I had developmental dysplasia and a lot of damage to the hip. I had my 6 week check-up yesterday and the surgeon was very pleased with his work and felt I was doing well. He told me that I would need to follow the 3 precautions for life (don't bend more than 90...

    Night time stiffness

I'm so grateful I found this forum and I'm going to tell my Dr. about it when I see him so he can share it with other hip patients. I had a LTHR 5 weeks ago. My hip was in pretty bad shape according to my OS. I think I was in denial about how bad it was. People tell me that seeing me walk...
