    TKR Quads and ROM

It actually is a big help for some people, like me. After 5 surgeries in a three year period, massive scar tissue and an infection, my quad was getting tight enough to interfere with my bend. Gentle quad stretching helps me a lot. Obviously not true for everyone, but true for some.

TKR Andpeaches 2nd TKR is DONE!!

This is pretty common. A lot of people hit a plateau during (roughly) the second month or a little later. Then they start making progress again.

TKR 6 month pain and blues

Ah, no, actually. It can be two steps forward and one step back kind of thing. Someone will pop in with a graphic that illustrates it, I don't have a copy. I am at 8 months and I cannot do half an hour on an exercise machine without crippling myself, but I am kind of a worst case example. It...

TKR 5 Years after knee replacement

I have massive amounts of scar tissue, and have spent the last three years researching it and trying almost everything. Nothing gets rid of mature scar tissue except surgery or MUA, and often it grows back, as it has done five times in my case. Your case may be a little different in that you...

TKR TRKR 10/13/23 - it does get better

Given the difficulties that election workers have faced in recent elections here in the US, thank you @dubloosh for doing this very important job despite your recent surgery.

    TKR Revision TKR

A number of us have. I've had two revisions to my left TKR, and you are right, recovery is harder and takes longer with each repetition. As far as swelling and pain goes, this varies a lot between patients. You may want to back off PT for a week or two, just doing ADL to keep moving, and see...

    Revision TKR 4 knee surgeries

@TAlex , did any of your doctors consider that you might have some kind of neurological problem, like a nerve compressed near your spine? Total speculation on my part, but some people have had spinal nerve issues whose only symptoms are problems with the knee or hip (my father is one such...

    TKR MSuki’s Fabulous Recovery Journey

I gradually developed frequent foot cramps over the last five years or so. I read that they can be caused by arch problems brought on by insufficient arch support, so I bought better insoles with good arch supports and put them in my shoes. The problem is 95% gone, almost overnight. Your...

    TKR YYZ Back To YYC!

The oral antibiotics I was given forbid alcohol, and would upset my stomach a great deal if I had food within 3 hours before or after. Since I took those twice a day it restricted when I could eat and I had to time things carefully. The IV antibiotics didn’t have any of those problems but the...

    TKR YYZ Back To YYC!

I think that actually does happen sometimes for some home infusions, but the doctors and nurses prefer not, since there are more opportunities for the patient to make a mistake.

    TKR YYZ Back To YYC!

@2chains , i had a PICC line last summer and will again soon. My antibiotics were supplied in little containers the size of grenades that when activated pumped the medicine into the PICC line using some kind of mechanism that I think was spring loaded. Each infusion took 50 minutes and I did...

@EalingGran , thanks for the suggestion. I’d already read that article but I didn’t think of pulling out the particular treatment regime.

Revision TKR August 1st 2023 Second TKR Revision Left Knee

Seven months after second revision of left knee - Well, its been a month since having my knee aspirated on 2/1. We had the culture results on 2/6 - the staph lugdunensis has returned. Then followed two wasted weeks trying to get my hospital's infectious disease department to step up but they...

Revision TKR Hetrotopic Ossification or Metal Allergy after BTKR

@Angelstalk1111 , I had heterotopic ossification after my first two surgeries, a TKR and an open lysis of adhesions. As you know, the sharp bony plates in the quad were very painful. When I had my next two revisions, I had a different surgeon, a revision specialist, who was more skilled, and...

TKR Knee revision vs new spacer

If they do a revision, everything gets replaced, including the spacer. If you are asking about doing only a spacer exchange, and not replacing any of the other parts, then if the prosthetic parts inserted into the femur and tibia are loose, changing the spacer will not help. If those...
