    TKR Abscess on tkr scar

I had a couple of what I believe the doctor called suture abcesses. He said they weren't really abcesses but were the body's reaction to the sutures. One of them actually "spat out" a knot. That said, they were not very big. Maybe like a moderate size pimple.

Revised PKR to TKR Any MUA advice?

Don't use anything on your incision while it is healing without first checking with your doctor. I have an acquaintance that has been using hydrogen peroxide on a wound for years and it has not healed. :yikes: Many "old school" remedies did more harm than good.

TKR Pain in back of knee 1st week after surgery

Could you put the box(es) on a raised surface? Maybe a folding table? I volunteer at a cat rescue and we put the food and water on one in the community room.

    TKR Ensure - healthier alternative?

I was given something to drink before surgery. I don't remember if it was Ensure. If this is the purpose of the Ensure, be sure to talk to your doctor about making any substitute. I suspect that you need to have an empty stomach at the time of surgery and other beverages may not empty from the...

    [PLC/LCL Reconstruction] Tzed recovery thread

OMG! In my opinion no one should be manipulating your kneecap so early in your recovery!

    TKR Woodcutter's Knee Recovery Thread

I had thigh muscle spasms that started about 2 months after surgery. Turns out I had poor extension and was told I was basically doing lunges with every step with that leg. I focused on doing extension stretches and they stopped after about a week. Not a quick fix but nothing about this...

    Metal Allergy Nickel allergy

I have had reactions to jewelry too and mentioned it to my doctor. He didn't bother with the testing, just went with the nickel free prosthetic.

    TKR Abdominal muscle pain

Praying that you won't have to have any further treatment for the cancer. You will probably be monitored for years but that's not such a bad thing.

TKR Should I have LTKR before hiking 7 day Inca trail

Just a thought, if this is a trip with friends, you will get a lot of sympathy/empathy if you find yourself in need of help. If it is with a group of strangers, not so much.

    TKR Valgus deformity

I found a knee sleeve that has a round patch of padding at the knee that is helpful. The padding is probably not enough for kneeling a long time. Found it at Walgreens

TKR Should I have LTKR before hiking 7 day Inca trail

@whoshebaby Just my opinion but I would postpone the trip until after the surgery. If your knees felt like mine, you will enjoy the trip more once you are walking comfortably again. As the moderators will say, recovery can take a year or more. BUT if you don't have any complications, you may...

    TKR #2 done

I saw my ortho yesterday and he is happy with my progress. He doesn't need to see me again for 4 years. Before surgery I had to shift my weight from leg to leg when standing because my knees hurt. Walking had become too painful to walk very far or fast due to bone spurs in my left knee. I...

    TKR Scared of Needles

I had a spinal for my first knee and I'm pretty sure they gave me some propophol right before the injection. One minute they are getting me in position, next thing I knew I was waking up from the surgery.

    TKR Pain on my kneecap

@Debbie S Getting to the point of going down stairs seems to take FOREVER! It requires more range of motion than going up. So as that improves, so will being able to go down stairs.

    TKR Abdominal muscle pain

@Whoodee I am a breast cancer survivor. If that is what it is, sounds like you caught it early. My understanding is that the earlier it is caught, the easier the treatment. Best of luck.

TKR 3 months out/ snapping sharp pain on left front of knee

@Brbmks I had a similar problem that turned out to be a "floating body" at about 6 o'clock slightly behind the kneecap. It showed up on the standard X-rays. Any way you could get your doctor to look at this possibility? Maybe an ultrasound?

    TKR #2 done

Slept pretty well last night. Pain is under pretty good control with just acetaminophen. To those who are just seeing this snippet of my recovery, this is not recovery from the actual replacement but from the removal of calcification in the knee. I would hate to have someone get discouraged by...

    TKR #2 done

Took the ace bandage off yesterday and found REMOVE 12/2 written nice and big on the bandage. :) Didn't get much sleep last night but figure that is pretty much par for the course at this point. Got on the bike for a few minutes this morning and just rocked back and forth. I am managing about...

    TKR #2 done

Had a fairly decent night's sleep. Haven't taken any oxycodone yet, haven't even gotten the prescription filled. Acetaminophen and icing seems to be keeping the pain at a tolerable level. I have an ace bandage on and was told I could take it off today. Thought I'd take it off at bedtime.

    TKR #2 done

Dr was running about an hour late. Got home around 7 pm. I feel pretty good but have a lot of drugs on board so we will see how it goes as they wear off. Knee aches but it's tolerable. The ossification was 2cm in size. The doctor showed me a picture but I was still seeing double at the time so...
