I’m leaving the forum. It’s been a couple of years and I’m finding it difficult to keep up with all the new posts. Thanks for all the support and encouragement.
Update: not much improvement in ROM and pain has intensified to the point that I am back on pain medication. The edema in my calves, ankles, and feet continues to limit my exercise. The left leg had a spot that was weeping fluid last week so for several days I was focused on elevating my legs to...
Welcome @UpstateNY64. You’re doing great after only a couple of weeks. Restlessness was an issue for me both because of the healing process as well as the frustration of being limited in what I was able to do. I found practicing meditation really helped as it slowed down my racing thoughts.
It sounds like you’re doing very well @Soreone. I remember how different my two recoveries were and reminding myself that knee #1 was still a work in progress when I had #2 done. Important to remember to care for both!
The past two weeks have been filled with projects that have been multiplying during the months my activities were restricted. I have been battling with trying to do too much in a short period of time and end up on the ODIC bench. I’m still having quite a bit of pain and find my hips are trying...
I hear your frustration @TNR #2. I have pain in both knees and feel like this might be the “new normal“ for me. The pain is different than pre-replacements but can be pretty intense at times.
Thank you @sistersinhim and @Coppernob for telling me about your experience. At the moment it’s not too bad, no pain and it doesn’t lock up. I see my OS in early September for a follow up with my knee and I’ll see how it’s doing then. He doesn’t do hands but there’s another in the practice that...
Thank you @nikkohli for sharing your story. It seems you are making good choices in your rehab especially with recognizing your limitations and not pushing yourself. Please keep us updated!
Welcome @amber777 to our family! One of the moderators will come along and share some tips and guidelines which you’ll find helpful. The main thing to remember this early is ice and elevate! You’re just a few days into a yearlong (or longer) journey which will probably feel like a rollercoaster...
Welcome! When was your surgery? Many of us thought we’d be running a marathon after a few weeks but discovered the recovery and rehabilitation is a yearlong (or more) journey filled with ups and downs. I remember feeling so discouraged when I took a baby step forward then, by thinking I could do...
Yes @Vioryny that was the course of treatment. My OS admitted it might be overly aggressive but he didn’t want to take any chances. When he did the irrigation surgery, he took quite a few cultures plus drew fluid from the knee to see if and where it was. It seems to have been superficial so we...
@Vioryny I have just battled an infection in my right knee (TKR in 2021, revision in March). You can read about it in my thread. Needless to say I’ll likely always be fearful of another infection because, for me, there were no warning signs; it just seemed to come out of nowhere.
I read through all the posts on fingers/thumbs and found one older thread on trigger thumb. I have recently developed this on my right hand. I’ve read information and watched a couple of videos but would like to hear from someone who has been treated for this condition.
Did you have injections...
Last day of IV antibiotics. PICC line will come out on Thursday.
Saw OS this morning and he did a new X-ray just to make sure all is well. It was the first time I saw the revision and I can’t believe how long the tibial component extends down my leg. He explained that’s why he was overly...
Welcome @PinotG68! Your last word is something we all wish we had more of! Rarely are we told before undergoing our traumatic surgery that the healing process takes a year or more. There is tons of helpful information on this board and if you don’t find your answer, just ask!
Welcome @Hairxtrordanair! Oh, those darn zingers! I remember the freaking out with the first one but thanks to this board, I learned they were to be expected and are actually a good sign. But they can be so aggravating especially when you’ve finally dozed off to sleep and one hits like a bolt of...
When I saw the infectious disease doctor last week I was talking with her about being so exhausted. What she told me made more sense than anything any doctor has ever told me.
She said that our bodies are made to fight foreign things such as infections, or insect bites. She reminded me that my...
Feeling a bit better and working hard to keep the negative thoughts from consuming my brain. The weather has been hot and humid so I’m only able to get one outside walk in early in the morning. I’ve been able to get an hour or so of sleep late morning and mid afternoon. I’m anticipating after I...
