Hi Layla
Thank you! I'm well on the road to recovery and have started Nordic walking again. I still get a little bit of swelling in my left ankle but not so bad as it was. I've been signed off by my consultant as well so full steam ahead!
Best wishes

@Nchiodo I still have swelling in my left ankle (I'm 5 weeks post surgery today) so I wear my compression stocking on that leg and I rest ice elevate after exercise. It is going down v slowly but surely I'm just learning to be patient!

Hi all
My op went well and I'm 4 weeks into recovery. I've started Physio and was making good progress but I now have a painful heel and very swollen ankle on same side as THR. I'm still wearing a compression stocking and raking blood thinners so it isn't DVT. I'm icing it and raising leg is...
Hi there thank you for all your good wishes I needed them!
Op was grim as they needed to manipulate my leg to give me an extra 3.5cm to get my legs even so I was a mass of bruises when I came out of surgery. But I am now healing well and new hip is fantastic. I'm 4 weeks post surgery.

Hi Lizard 615
I hope your pain subsides post surgery. I have terrible pain in my left knee and ankle which I will need to work on post surgery as I'm sure it is caused by my collapsed hip joint- my left THR is next week and I am counting the days.
Best wishes

Thanks @Jaycey
The x-ray was a bit of a shocker. Even the consultant was surprised at the amount of deterioration since the x-ray in January. As you say, I'm sure they deal with this all the time.
Hi all
I'm having THR in a couple of weeks. The consultant I saw last week said my x-ray showed advanced AVN. I was wondering if anyone on the forum could say whether AVN complicates surgery and/or recovery? Or does it not matter as the replacement will take care of everything?!?

Hi
I'm going to have hip replacement surgery on the 14th August at University College hospital. It has all happened in a bit of a rush but I am very pleased it is going ahead.

Hi Jaycey
Yes please. Prof Haddad did my hip and knee last time, which is why I've asked to go back to UCLH but if that option isn't available I'd really welcome some recommendations.
Thanks all for the advice. I'm in London; my referral service has said they will need to try a few hospitals as my first preference (UCLH) may not accept me if they have too many waiting already. I'll dial down the exercise and give it some rest.

Hi
I've posted here but may also be relevant in the TKR area. I have osteoarthritis in all my joints and I've already had one hip replacement 2015 (right) and one knee replacement 2016 (left). My left hip is now very painful and I'm waiting for a referral when hospitals reopen again. I'm...
