THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

Figured I'd post an update, as I enjoyed reading the longer term updates when I was pre-op. What hip replacement?! Biggest inconvenience is when I trip metal detectors at the airport, otherwise I'd have no idea I had the surgery. Been working out 4+ times a week in the gym, including setting...

THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

@BigDon no complaints! have walked 18 a few times so far this season (only open less than a month) and it feels good, including a very hilly course. swing is better more rom, and much smoother. No issues with high swing speeds

THR Returning to Golf post THR

@BigDon Honestly I delayed my surgery to late august just so I could get the most of the 2020 golf season in; only really missing 1-1.5 months of golf. Courses are mostly still closed here for winter, but a couple started opening last 1-2 weeks. So timing couldn't have been better! I am...

THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

Well team it's closing in on 7 months post-op and I think about my hip exactly 0 times a week now :) Looking back the amount of mental energy I spent thinking about it, or the anxiety of how much it would limit me - all gone. It's amazing, I've been crushing my exercise goals and feeling great...

THR AVN - Pros and Cons of Waiting for THR

30M here, had AVN after a skiing incident. 6 months post op now, and wish I had surgery 2 years ago. I wasn't taking any pain meds prior to surgery, and was still golfing up to 36 hours prior to surgery. Replacement has given me so much back that I didn't realize was impacting me.

THR Returning to Golf post THR

Hi @BigDon, had my THR last August. Now that the weather is warmer I've been out on the course this past week. Biggest challenge is tweaking my swing as I have a full ROM again and prior I wasn't able to rotate my hip properly. On the sim I can get into the 113-117 range with my driver, so...

THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

Thank you for the feedback and well wishes all, this board has been so nice to have through the process! I did speak with my surgeon on using the Theragun and he said it was perfectly safe to do, so I’ve been using it after some heavy workout and it feels good! The worst part of the surgery is...

THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

Does anyone know if it is safe to use massage guns, theragun for example, on my hip muscles after replacement? Don’t want to do any damage to the prosthetic. Thanks! I’ve been getting weekly massages, and they feel great. But was looking at the theragun to supplement foam rolling when I do...

THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

Thanks @Layla. I really don't have an update, I should have done this a couple years ago. Living life, walking a lot, and just overall enjoying my new lifetime hip! Hardly think about it anymore, just feels natural.

THR Dec 7th left THR anterior

I did 1000 steps per week (1000 steps first week,..., 5000 steps 5th week ect) and seemed to work pretty well for my anterior replacement. Keep rotating gel packs and use them even if you don't feel you need them. Best of luck!

    THR THR 42 yrs old

@evie1000. Nothing really, I only had 3 weeks notice as well. Prior to surgery I set up my house, moving rugs, toilet riser, and having ice packs in the fridge! You can go back and look at my recovery thread; but I was mobile day 1, I was home and in my bed (2nd floor) 3.5 hours after surgery...

THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

Well team, I've hit 8 weeks officially on Friday and two months in a few days since my surgery and I couldn't be happier at this point. My goal was always by Canadian Thanksgiving (7 week post op) I wanted to be in better shape than pre-op and I am happy to report that's the case. I took a...

THR Minifab - 30M - LTHR Recovery Thread

Hit the 6 week window last Friday! After week 4 I noticed a big increase in overall energy levels, and week 5 I gained full independence back (meaning no walking aid). Two weekends ago, I went out with some friends for a picnic + a couple of ciders - nice to get out of the house (I used my...

THR Do I really need a THR?

I played a full 18 holes of golf 36 hours prior to my THR! 6 weeks out, and so far very happy I had the surgery. Did a 5k walk on Saturday with no aids, riding the stationary bike only difference from before is no pain. Had the same thoughts as you pre-surgery, but timing couldn’t of been...

Thanks @Layla. Hard to believe how quickly time goes and it’s already been a month, feels like yesterday I was nervous for the surgery. Last week progressed well + had a good weekend, outside of my dog getting sprayed by a skunk and bringing the stink inside... :eeeuw: Walking straighter and...
