It's three months not five just yet. Everything is going great at month 3. I'm into the stretching and exercising lightly phases now. Another month and I have my 4 month check with the surgeon. Anyone have any questions I might be able to answer based on my surgery and recovery so far?

In fact when I checked it was Vitamin D3 I was taking not D2 (D3 absorbs better than D2). Dosage was also in UI's not MG's.

Pre-Op (for anyone) I would recommend strengthening the leg as much as possible (squats, walking, stretching). The Dr had me take like 5000 mg per day vitamin D2 six weeks before the surgery (I continue with 1000mg a day post surgery). Also I have been using a Collagen Peptide Powder Supplement...

Quick starting "Week 6: summation Week 6: Just had the 6 week post-op Doctors visit yesterday 30 Jan, 2020. X-ray: Implant still exactly where they put it and cleared for everything but submerging the incision in water (bath, hot tub, etc.) Pain- none other than the first weight bearing step...

    THR Golf ball in butt!

I haven't had that but I know the feeling. We use to have to get a gamma globulin shot before deploying! I'd try some very slight massage (almost just a rub) to see if that helps. I've been doing that to my leg from hip to knee for a couple of weeks now and it seems to help me.

Expect two bandages. One where the incision will be (big bandage) and one where the machine attaches to you (small bandage). Kind of had me fooled for a few days. Couldn't figure out why I had two bandages until the PT told me what the small bandage was for. My incision measures 4 1/2 inches for...

    THR Hate Opioids

I had the MAKO™ Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery (18 Dec 2019). That's all my doctor does (Dr Paul Jacob). His website has a decent explanation on it's usage and advantages.

THR Pain following hip replacement surgery

I had the exact same thing (Posterior THR). I'm at week 5 right now. Once my selling went way down (week 3) I started getting what I believe is called on the forum as the "stagger step". After siting for a while I'll get up (weight bearing) and limp for 5 or 6 steps until it works itself out...

    THR AKGRL123 recovery thread

This is pretty much what happened to me at week 3, sciatic nerve. Cruising right along then bam. I have no pain sitting, doing mobility exercises, etc. Buy when I stand up I get that shooting pain down leg from hip to toes. Once I take a few steps, or balance on the operative hip leg, it's fine...

Has anyone used a TENS unit as part of their physical therapy? If so at what week in the recovery process did you use it?

Appreciated. While my progress has been really good, and lucky, I'm not going to press it. Heck I won't even sleep on my side yet and that's driving me nuts! I was fairly healthy going in (age 55) and the Dr did a great job. He used the MAKO™ Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery which is supposed to...

Just tried stairs for the first time! 3 flights. No pain or pressure. Only thing was the mental hurdle of realizing my leg was not going to fall off on the way down!!

Just listening to my body. I have no real milestones I'm trying to meet, just taking a day at a time . Only goals I've had were to be able to shower after the first week and to permanently remove those dang TED hose at week 3 :). Everything else is just gravy . . .

Anterior. Have backed off a little (no driving) but am not discouraged at all. Time heals all wounds they say . . . . And I'll also say in the fine print "No case is typical. You should not expect to experience these results."
