It's been just over 3 months now. Knee is still knocking when I walk but otherwise I am doing everything. This knee is now my good knee. Some stiffness but I am doing all the stairs, walking as much as I want, and going fishing. Fishing is allowed here in Maine despite the lockdown if you do it...
Yes it is and that has been my ultimate yardstick. I need to be able to get down there pretty much daily by May. So getting there and back was good. The fear of not being able to get back to doing what I want to do has lingered. But time heals and we get better.
9 weeks since TKR. I am getting around fine, going on walks, and the original pain is gone. I still get fluid from overuse. I am done with PT and have good range of motion, but less when it swells a bit. It gets achy from overuse. I was doing elliptical machine and exercise bike at home but...
My dr is closed for at least 3 weeks probably longer. The silver lining is you have a chance to do it on your own for a bit. I did better after stopping PT but still do not have the balance of activity/recovery quite right. I have been doing great but this week is a setback and I have to lighten...
Thanks for your updates, they are encouraging to me. I’m going through a cycle of feeling like I’m doing great and then having a setback and then getting frustrated. I have the same mechanical clunking that you have. It’s been 8 1/2 weeks and I became concerned that I have a spacer problem or...
You are getting good advice on here. I am 8 weeks out and doing well. I would just reinforce the feedback you have received that (1) it won’t bend if there is a lot of fluid/swelling in there (2) activity, while necessary, can cause swelling, (3) ice reduces swelling, (4) days off reduces...
It sounds like you have had a very normal recovery experience so far. The first few weeks are difficult and depressing. I was reading your posts thinking “wow I think I wrote all those same words!”
I am 8 weeks out now and I am doing pretty much whatever I want. The knee still stiffens up after...
I am at 5 weeks too, and have a lot of the same things. I do not have the horrible therapist. Working full time is impressive, I would have a hard time with that, I am doing part time from home.
I have the same worries about the “sickening” movement in my knee, side to side and clunking. But...
I was the same but it was good to get home and the pain was manageable as long as I set a schedule and took the meds according to that and did not skip any. After 2 days in I skipped a dose because I am such a tough guy and that was a mistake. I took the oxy for 8 days and then tapered off.
I...
Yay! Have been rooting for you all along and I am glad you have turned the corner. During your struggles you have posted more positive messages for other people than just about anybody. You deserved a good turn.
If you want snow we have a bunch here in Maine and you can have it!
Glad you are feeling better. Opioids are tough On the body no matter how you come off them. My first two weeks they were hard on my body and I cried a lot too, and not because of pain.
my mantra after surgery was “2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months” (hoping I hat after two months I would be basically up...
I have been reading along. You are getting great advice from other posters. I just really wish you the best. I do hope you take a complete sabbatical from activity and PT for a while. I know that when I overdo it I go backward, and then it takes time doing nothing to regroup. If I had done all...
You are right. They do try to do what they can when they know something is off. Good to have them around.
Not fully reformed but he is turning into a very good boy. He came from an Amish farm in upstate NY and I have to say he did not learn anything about pacifism from being Amish. He likes to...
