THR Hip Surgery done and Home

I liked what you reminded me of above, I was unable to even walk much so that makes sense. By the way yesterday I had PT so I asked her when I could expect to get up from kneeling unassisted and she said about a year! So you are spot on and I was surprise it would take that long. I have pretty...

THR Hip Surgery done and Home

Question for all you who have recovered... I had a Right THA in Nov. 2019...and was just getting back to the gym when Covid hit and I haven’t been since. I did start a home exercise routine. Walking was minimal because my other hip hurt too much to walk so I don’t think I was doing enough to...

@Layla ...I missed this message but thank you. Yes I have been soaking away in the tub and went back to yoga Jan 7. I had my 4 month check and am still tender over my scar. My PA who was in the OR, said my retraction was pretty brutal in order to get the screws out from the previous fixation...

Thank you @Layla . I didn’t see your post the other day. Week 10 tomorrow and I am dying to take a nice deep soak in my tub. He always insists on 12 weeks before a bath. I wonder what others on here were restricted to. My scar is well healed and I know I can get in and out of the tub. Any...

@Softtail and others...I emailed my PA last night and she said this is a fairly common pain called "wallet sign" and not to be worried. Keep an eye on it. It does feel like I am sitting on something that jabs me at times but not all the time. But I felt better after she wrote me back to know...

Wow...I think I joined the ODIC today. I did a lot of walking around without a cane and around 4:30 I sat down and felt a sharp pain at the back of my thigh near the hip joint like I was sitting on something sharp! I don’t know what caused that but it was really painful! So I went and iced and...

THR Hip Surgery done and Home

I had my 3 week post op appointment this past Monday and although I'm not completely off the cane like I was with my other hip, I am allowed to drive. So yesterday I drove and got my hair cut and highlighted. What a treat as it was looking pretty bad. I am still upset about the condition of...

Yes you’re right. I have dysplasia so he had to deepen the socket too as well as remove the 3 screws first from my previous fracture so it was a lot of manipulation. It’s just that my other hip was sooo much easier that I expected the same, but now I know this is the evil sister :gaah:

I seem to have a deep ache in the hip socket and a pain that is in my calf. Hurts when I walk or do the PT exercises. Wondered if anyone else ever felt this? It is upsetting to have this when I’m walking.

Well not so fast...he made me keep the dreaded hose another week! I am finished with the wound treatment regimen and the skin no longer has blisters but it’s so dry from the solution! Then I got an outbreak of hives all over! We think it started from the allergic reaction to the mesh and...

So just now back finally with an update. The skin around my incision erupted in little blisters or vesicles that were weeping serous fluid. The doctor decided to have me apply a wound care solution to the area 4x daily at 15 minutes a pop and then apply a new dressing. So that began yesterday...

The incision was re dressed Monday and the new dressing covers it so I can’t see it. Tomorrow she will come by to look at it. Fingers crossed it’s not serious! I can’t tell if it’s warm because I'm on the ice all the time! Lol

I am having increased drainage onto my dressing. Home health returns tomorrow and will look at it. They’ve asked me to stay off it tonight and just keep icing and elevating. I didn’t have any drainage with my other hip so this really surprised me. I hope all is ok, it’s a bit worrisome. Do...

Hi I am fresh from a shower (the first!) and dressing change. The incision looked good she said, just a little weeping but I had a red rash around it. She sent pics to the nurse and they felt it was an allergic reaction to the mesh applied over the incision. So that was removed and steri strips...

Revision THR 7 days home does it get better

The pain at the posterior part of the pelvis and hip socket is a given so what you are experiencing is so normal. It will go away. i agree with the others about using Tylenol at the very least and the ice. Also walking around to stretch the muscles and wake them up. I am 8 days out today and...

THR Oh no! What did I do?

I agree with the footwear and second the elastic laces which I still use to this day! Love them so! I hope your hip is feeling better and you get reassurance from the doctor.

THR Pros and cons of early intervention

I too was limiting my activity and not able to hike anymore, dance etc. The first OS office I went to said it wasn’t time yet. Finally I got a second opinion and when the PA told me, you need a hip replacement so you can enjoy life again, I cried! I had the right done last year and the left this...
